So says Obama, despite evidence to the contrary. The world seems pretty comfortable standing by as Putin rebuilds the USSR.
“We cannot stand by when the sovereignty and territorial integrity of a nation is flagrantly violated,” Obama stated in his speech. “If that happens without consequence in Ukraine, it could happen to any nation gathered here today.”
If diplomacy is the opposite of war then in this situation I choose diplomacy. Do we really want another Cold War? We are talking about Russia. We can’t just invade the Ukraine and push them out. This isn’t Kuwait. Involving the other nations of the world in further sanctions, stricter sanctions may help. Not to go off thread but ramping up the way Carly Fiorina suggested in the last Republican debate has been proven to be ridiculous. I don’t think she’s a crackpot or a warmonger (as this link suggests) but I think there is some truth in what’s said. I do think what she proposed is either already being done, will be done in the near future or is undoable. The drums of war beat loudest at election time.

No better platform to take some shots a Putin. Overall I think Obama’s speech to the UN was dead on.
Shut the fuck up.
Let Russian troops fight for Assad against Isis
Let that be their new Afghanistn
Every death on both sides is great for us
May the battle last for 11 plus years ( just like Iraq and us )
It’s best to watch a quagmire from the sidelines
Ask Eastern Europe how our partnership with Russia worked out for them n WW2
The folks who admire Putin , admire tyranny
Not leadership .
