Heh.
The 38th question concerned the home kingdom of Aladdin and Jasmine from the 1992 animated film: “Would you support or oppose bombing Agrabah?”
“We were interested to see how many people would support bombing an area that just sounded Middle Eastern,” Jim Williams, a polling analyst for PPP, said in an interview with Yahoo News. “I thought that would be interesting.”
While 30 percent of responders said they would support a bombing campaign, only 13 percent said they opposed it, and 57 percent said they were not sure.
There was immediate backlash on social media from users accusing PPP of bias. But the organization posed the Agrabah question to Democratic primary voters as well. They opposed the bombing 36 percent to 19 percent.
Couple thoughts… first, it is amazing how many stupid people there are out there.
Second, the headlines are blaring that more Republicans want to bomb the fictional Agrabah. It is an attempt by the media to slime Republicans as so bellicose that a minority of them want to bomb a country that doesn’t exist. But the correct response to the question whether one is Republican or Democrat is either “I don’t know what Agrabah is” or “hey, that’s a fictional place.” Answering either yes or no to the question is stupid. By that measure, 43% of the Republicans who answered are idiots and 55% of Democrats who answered are idiots. Those are truly depressing numbers.
After 9 billion renditions of “Let it Go”, I’d consider bombing Arendelle way before any other Disney fiction.
Since you can’t bomb a fictional place, isn’t the question moot?
