I heard Jay Weber mention this on his show and I thought there had to be some mistake. Nope. Here’s the bill:
Existing law makes it a crime to solicit or engage in any act of prostitution. Existing law makes it a crime to loiter in any public place with the intent to commit prostitution.This bill would make the above provisions inapplicable to a child under 18 years of age who is alleged to have engaged in conduct that would, if committed by an adult, violate the above provisions. The bill would authorize the minor to be taken into temporary custody under limited circumstances.

After searching for more information it appears this is the beginning or should I say continuation of conservative efforts to discredit progress in CA. It is reckless and dangerous to use the safety and well doing of minors for political gain. Shame on all involved with spreading such BS.

The fact that you think that pimps will “now” start recruiting and exploiting kids shows that you’re kinda out-of-touch on this issue…they have been doing so for quite a long time already.
The purpose of this law is so that a child who is being used by these sex traffickers can get help, rather than being caught up in the criminal-justice system. Are you suggesting that a 12-year old child should be criminally punished for being forced into a prostitution ring or is this just another case of you failing to read much more than just the headline?
