MADISON – Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation announced plans today to create 200 new manufacturing and support jobs and to invest $40 million in expanding its Greenville facility. Gulfstream has been an important contributor to the economy in the Appleton area, and labels this as its most significant expansion in its nearly 20 year history in the region.
Gulfstream to Expand in Greenville

I remember Gulfstream seeking WI sales tax exemption on aircraft serviced at their Appleton facility. In other states where they have facilities, the states were not charging sales tax, so it was worthwhile for owners of jets to fly them in to their service centers in other states, like Michigan, Ohio, or Indiana. For example, a $500,000 overhaul job in WI cost the owner an extra $27,500. The exemption was passed into law in 2014 – good to see Gulfstream proving that the tax was having a negative impact in the past. Of course some naysayers saw the exemption as “corporate welfare”.
