Imagine a religion that worships guns. They buy many guns for themselves, some for hunting, they say, some for self-defense, some for fun. They stockpile ammo.  They train children in the use of these guns, with no age limit.  Many want to carry the loaded guns with them at all times. They claim they need the guns to wage war against their very own government, against their neighbors, if they feel the ballot box has failed and they feel threatened. They claim they’re being responsible and self-reliant, right up until the moment that something goes wrong, then it’s “an accident” or the fault of a “lone wolf with mental issues.”

Imagine a religion where their holy books claim to predict a final holy battle that will encompass the world, that they even know who will be on the battlefield and exactly where the battlefield will be, that billions will die, that a few adherents will be saved and carried up to heaven, and that they relish the notion of this battle happening – welcome it, even!   Imagine a country where almost all the elected officials feel compelled to claim they are believers in this religion.

Imagine a country where at least half the elected officials profess a full belief in both of these religions!
