Way to set an example for the school kids, Tony.
MADISON – State schools Superintendent Tony Evers submitted a budget request as his bid for governor heated up in September that included sections plagiarized from Wikipedia, a blog by an intern at a think tank and two other sources.
[…]
Evers’ budget request includes a 15-paragraph section on the benefits of summer school programs that is nearly verbatim to a blog post written by a Thomas B. Fordham Institute intern.
A section on the benefits of having students work matches nearly word for word a publication by the National Collaborative on Workforce and Disability. That section includes two paragraphs and a list of four benefits of having students work.
Two other paragraphs appear to be taken verbatim from other sources — one from the Afterschool Alliance and one from Wikipedia.
And this is telling…
A spokesman for Evers’ Department of Public Instruction acknowledged that “proper citation use was missed in certain places” of the budget request. Staff will be retrained but Evers does not plan to discipline anyone, according to the department.
Clearly there isn’t a culture of accountability in Evers’ DPI.
Awful. Just awful.
Poor example for the children.
But nowhere near as bad as the example set by our liar-in-chief.
On a more positive note, Brewers are up 5-1.
“proper citation use was missed in certain places” -DPI
Stealing 15 paragraphs outright is not a “missed citation”.
And why is Evers slamming taxpayers for $500,000 to start up something called, “Young Learners Tribal Language Revitalization”?
You want to see what real plagiarism looks like?
“In the 2011-2012 session, Walker signed into law 19 bills or budget provisions with ALEC content. The Center for Media and Democracy (CMD) wrote a report detailing this plagiarism called “ALEC Exposed Wisconsin: The Hijacking of a State.” Since then, many more ALEC bills have become law.”

Pat,
That was used with full permission.
k:
You sure? Why can’t r’s have any original thoughts, but have to rely on others, mostly from out of state?
ALEC is the conservative agenda in action. ALEC is run by smart, very astute policy people.
Nothing wrong with that.
Certainly better than the prozac, heroin laced, scribblings Evers finds on the internet.
Again, you are entitled to your opinion. And I’ll respectfully disagree with every word you said.
Why can’t laws, policy or budgets for WI be developed by folks from WI rather than ALEC? Just who is making the puppet dance?
Nord,
Why can’t you ever say anything nice?
You are the most rude WI resident to poor Scott Walker who has brought so many blessings to this State.
Try being nice for a change.
k:
Nope, not rude at all, didn’t call anyone a disparaging name, label anyone, or make up a false narrative. I was even respectful (see above).
I’m sure the folks in Kewaunee and LaCrosse counties that can’t drink their well water are feeling blessed right now. As are the folks in the central part of the state who bought waterfront property that now isn’t. Or the residents in SE WI who had their property taken from them because it was “blighted”. I’m sure they will count their blessings in the voting booth.
Nord
“Puppet dance” is very rude name calling.
Especially when Walker consulted top conservative minds. That is to be celebrated, not vilified.
This is what happens when you have no absolute truth. You blow and twitch, unsure what is good and what is bad.
k:
No. it isn’t.
And I’ll ask again, what makes your “absolute” truth any more truthful than truth? Your guy has folks that don’t believe truth is truth, and that there are alternative facts. Doesn’t that puzzle you?
Well, RoiSki, the residents of Wisconsin and the entire USA who 1) DO NOT have their old insurance plan; who 2) DO NOT have their old doctor, and 3) who ARE PAYING a helluvalot more for less coverage voted, too–and it’s going to happen again in only 10 days.
Let’s talk about it then!!
dud:
And there are folks like me, and a lot of others, that: 1) have their same insurance plan,; 2) have their same Dr.; and 3) pay pretty much the same as they did before (mine actually went down recently based on my general health/age). And I’ll be voting as well.
Now answer me this; Where is the cheaper and better health care plan promised by the current occupant? Why is k’s “absolute” truth any more truthy than plan old ordinary truth?
Nortumous regurgitates: “….The Center for Media and Democracy…”
BWA HA HA HA!
The socialist Soros/Schwab/SEIU/AFL-CIO funded so-called “non-partisian” think tank that tried (and failed badly) to blame the NRA for Trayvon Martin’s death, founded by a couple of anti-war hippies and now run by ex-ACLU and ex-Fiendgold nutjobs.
Meanwhile, ALEC is made up of over 25% of the USA’s actual state representatives (you know, elected officials, just like you, Nort) and 300+ corporate and private orgs, all with the stated goals of limited government, free markets, and federalism. Really bad stuff there, eh? Wouldn’t want none of that free market stuff going on, would we? State rights? BA!
Of course, you won’t ever hear/see The Center for Media and Democracy complain about the State Innovation Exchange (SiX, at one time called American Legislative and Issue Campaign, or ALICE), the lefty version of ALEC.
See, they both do the same thing. That is, brainstorm as a group, collaborate on ideas, and come up with policies to be promoted and implemented.
The difference is, while ALEC is definitively pro-American, ALICE is directly anti-American.
mjmumbles:
So you can’t or won’t answer the questions posed. That makes k, dud and now you. The silence is defining.
Nort lies: “So you can’t or won’t answer the questions posed.”
You didn’t ask me any questions, numbnutz.
Nope. Since you trumped LeeeRoy with ALICE, he took a sharp turn to the irrelevant. ‘S OK; he’s comfortable there.
Well, none of you have even attempted to respond, so I’ll take that as none of you have any sort of idea how to answer.
Why the fascination with other folks reproductive parts? k would call you a pervert?
