Police firing tear gas have evicted protesters who stormed and ransacked Hong Kong’s parliament.
Activists had occupied the Legislative Council (LegCo) building for hours after breaking away from a protest on the anniversary of Hong Kong’s transfer of sovereignty to China from Britain.
After midnight (16:00 GMT), hundreds of police secured the building following a warning to protesters to clear it.
It follows weeks of unrest in the city over a controversial extradition law.
Hundreds of thousands took part in the earlier peaceful protest – the latest rally against a proposed law that critics fear could be used to extradite political dissidents to mainland China.
The protesters have also been demanding an independent inquiry into alleged police brutality during an earlier protest on 12 June.

Fascists come in all shapes and sizes, including “R” and “D”–but more often in a smaller ‘movement’ group. This time around, regardless of the false-flag name, it’s “Antifa,” which by and large supports the left end of the “D” Party’s goals–specifically, terrorizing or “un-personing” people who are patriots and Christians or Jews and are vocal about it.
An argument can be made that Antifa is actually anarchist, but that assumes that there is no longer-term planning for ‘what comes next’ after their anarchic revolution, and it’s difficult to believe that they haven’t mapped that out–with a dictatorship as the prize in the Cracker-Jack box.
That scenario closely resembles the story-line of the Russian Revolution. Unfortunately for those who defend socialism, communism is the ‘mean big brother’ of socialism, and the agnostic/atheist substrate is very strong, indeed in both of those systems.
