While Israel is perfectly within it’s rights and these two women are demonstrably anti-Semitic, I don’t appreciate the Israeli’s banning two duly-elected members of the United States Congress.
Israel is blocking two US Democratic lawmakers and prominent critics of Israel from visiting.
Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib were due to visit the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem next week.
Both have supported the boycott movement against Israel, but Israeli law allows supporters of the campaign to be banned from visiting.
Apparently they didn’t ask to enter Israel.
Netanyahu noted that the two “defined the destination of their trip as ‘Palestine’ and not as ‘Israel,’ and in contrast with all other Democratic and Republican members of Congress until now, they refrained from requesting any meeting with an Israeli official, either in the government or in the opposition.”
Scorn for Israel not willing to accept our anti-Semitic trash, whether traveling in official capacity or as private citizens, is scorn misplaced. Why would Israel be under any obligation to accept loud-mouthed American agitators looking for trouble, be they duly elected Democrat lawmakers or otherwise? That we have elected lawmakers with severe credibility issues not welcome abroad is our problem, not Israel’s.
Not scorn. Just disappointment. I still try to adhere to the old ethic that we should leave our internal arguments at the water’s edge.
Ah, the good old days!
What? No mention of Trump’s role in this?
I’m for exporting these 2 hateful women anywhere else.
Good for Israel. Why would they allow two vile anti-Semite bigots allowed in your country and then have to provide services for them, like security.
I wish other countries would have more backbones.
Israel has no obligation to these two Israel-haters. Given the way those two talk, Israel is keeping them safe by keeping them out of the country.
Let them go to North Korea on a fact finding mission.
Mar, catch up. Trump likes North Korea. I think Democrats still don’t.

In case you can’t figure it out, Larison is a striped-panties prissy Trump hater who calls himself “conservative.” His ‘diplomacy’ ideas were out of gas by 2000.
Owen sez: “I still try to adhere to the old ethic that we should leave our internal arguments at the water’s edge.”
‘Cept what these two Jew hating psycopaths advocate has nothing to do with “internal arguments”. Forest, trees.
And for what it worth, …..
“In 2012, the US State Department banned Israeli Knesset member Michel Ben Ari from coming into the US and to launch a collaborative project between the Knesset and Congress. Ben Ari was considered an extremist both in the US and Israel, just like Reps Omar and Tlaib, but the State Dept. called him a terrorist.”
jjf, Trump may like fat boy Kim, but it is still a shit hole country run by sick and vile people.
Wait what MjM? Who was Sec State in 2012?
>Who was Sec State in 2012?
I know, some enterprising journalist should file an Open Records request for emails pertaining to this ban, to determine if it was legit terrorism or rather politically motivated.
Oh wait, due to misconduct, malfeasance, criminality, and hubris, those records are likely destroyed. Private email servers are good for our country.
Can’t take a step in any direction without having to kick Clinton baggage out of the way.
Jason, look deeper, unfasten your blinders. Would you like more examples of both R and D hiding or destroying or refusing to surrender records?
jif, I thought “whataboutism” was a bad thing? We were talking about a very specific person and incident… do you want to try to feel better by talking about other people doing bad things? Your prescription for that is to log off, walk up Mom’s basement, and take a walk outside. Might tic down your blood sugar as well. Diabetes is a killer if you didn’t know.
This whole discussion is moot now any ways. Tliab just had her bluff called and fell over in embarrassment.
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/israeli-minister-rips-tlaib-for-nixing-trip-says-her-hate-for-israel-overcomes-love-for-her-grandmother
She got caught in her own poorly crafted trap.
Jason, whose private email servers were you referring to, and what did they have to do with this discussion?
Anyone want to help jif out? I long ago gave up trying to fix stupid.
>She got caught in her own poorly crafted trap.
Due primarily to being a political rookie enticed entirely out of her depth to independently politic internationally where she has absolutely zero influence.
Tlaib needs to audit Building Political Capital 101 rather than spending her whole term learning everything the hard way. Or just start taking some advice from Hoyer or Pelosi.
Jason inquires: “Anyone want to help jif out?“
Some things remain impossible.
My posting of the quote regarding the US ban of the Israeli Knesset member was merely to point out that refusing entry to another countries’s reps is not new. We banned pseudo-hero Nelson Mandela at one time.
And I think, contrary to what Wizard suggests above, it isn’t ‘rookie-ness’ that afflicts Tlaib. It’s blindness and stupidity born of pure hate.
Hatefulness and ignorance tends to be a bad combination. When she declared the visit to be personal to visit grandmama her Palestinian sponsorship became an illegal gift. By House ethics rules she would personally have to bear the expenses of visiting dear grandmama. No office funds for personal use either. She could have traveled with the official delegation of freshmen a couple of weeks earlier entirely on the taxpayer’s tab and certainly found time to squeeze in a little family time. Turns out she didn’t want to see grandmama bad enough to spend any of her own money. Such a doting granddaughter.
