A cheap and widely available drug called dexamethasone can help save the lives of patients who are seriously ill with coronavirus.
UK experts say the low-dose steroid treatment is a major breakthrough in the fight against the deadly virus.
It cut the risk of death by a third for patients on ventilators. For those on oxygen, it cut deaths by a fifth.
The drug is part of the world’s biggest trial testing existing treatments to see if they also work for coronavirus.
Researchers estimate that if the drug had been used to treat patients in the UK from the start of the coronavirus pandemic up to 5,000 lives could have been saved. Because it is cheap, it could also be of huge benefit in poorer countries struggling with high numbers of Covid-19 patients.
Major Breakthrough in Coronavirus Treatment

Wisconsin hospitalizations due to Covid is the lowest in 2 months. I wonder what that chart looks like and if Fousty can speculate what that means.
And in AZ it is a different story. I’m sure mar etal will speculate on that as well.

Come on, Le Roi. It’s just common sense. If we didn’t carry out so many tests, we wouldn’t have any evidence of so many positive cases.
Once again, jjf and Le Roi cheering for more hospitalizations and deaths.
Since it is just one area of the state that is affected, it is blown out of proportion. Unlike people in blue states, we have our big boy pants on and we are not that concerned.
And what the article did not mention is that California, particularly along the I-10 corridor is also seeing a spike in cases and they are still shut down, for the most part. Why would that be?
I suppose it is a concern for that “just one area of the state.” And why do you think that area is seeing new cases?
So, Fousty won’t speculate… only cheer when the topic is twisted. In other breaking news, the sun rose in the East this morning.
Come on Foust, show your work, dissect the chart showing hospitalizations down to the lowest level in over 60 days. You know, over 30 days after the Supreme Court slapped Evers’ and Palm’s order as Unconstitutional? Evers said we’re now the Wild West… remember that idiocy? Come on Sky Is Falling Foust, surely you have something?!!?
“And why do you think that area is seeing new cases?”
My guess is that areas mentioned are highly Hispanic and their culture is being close, family wise. They have their meals together, play together, party together, shop together etc. They are family orientated which is good during normal times but also good for spreading virsuses.
Ah, I think that’s called the Robin Vos defense. As opposed to the “let’s hang out in the bars up north” culture.
What’s the matter Foust, scouring liberal bastion r/Wisconsin for some help? Those nutjobs were forecasting thousands of deaths due to the Supreme Court’s force of the primary vote as scheduled. That never happened. They stood lock in step behind Evers wild west comments. It’s been more than 30 days since that and we are trending down.
Science that one for us all, if you can!
“Once again, jjf and Le Roi cheering for more hospitalizations and deaths.”
Could you point out where I said that? It isn’t a trick question, but I dare you to back up your claim. Come on mar, put your big boy pants on and tell the truth….
Le roi, he thinks he’s riling us up.
Yes, he thinks he matters in the scheme of life.
Very Le Roi, you did not want any medication to be used for treatment of the Chinese virus to be used unless it was approved by the FDA.
You and jjf were so gleeful that the medicine President Trump endorsed didn’t pass some false studies. Most people would have been disappointed but you two were very happy.
So, Le Roi, did you stop taking the drug? After all, it is dangerous and it can kill you.
No mar, am not gleeful about that. Nor am I surprised by the findings. And I still take it as prescribed, at a lower dose, and am closely monitored by medical professionals. Not gullible fools like you and trump.
