New Zealand Locks Down and Delays Election

Ominous. This is how a lot of people in America would like us to respond… lock everything up when there are even a handful of cases. There’s no end to it if that’s the standard.

Auckland (CNN)New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says she is delaying the country’s parliamentary election by four weeks to October 17 after the reemergence of Covid-19 in the country last week.

The announcement on Tuesday that locally acquired cases of coronavirus had been confirmed in the New Zealand’s biggest city, Auckland, prompted the government to introduce strict level three lockdown measures on August 12. This comes after around 100 days without community spread.
The rest of the country was put into level two lockdown, with both lockdown periods extended until at least August 26 as further cases of coronavirus were confirmed.

    Let’s do it.

SICK Liberal media will never report on COVID again. I’m good with that!

  2. Mar

    Stupid New Zealand.
But men won’t have to worry.
New Zealand: Where men are men and the sheep run scared.

  3. jjf

I guess we’ll have to see how NZ does in the long run compared to the USA.  Until it’s over, it’s just a mystery, right?  Their death rate could surge past the USA’s at any moment.  I’m surprised they still have news agencies and Internet, what with the way that a lockdown totally destroyed their civilization down there.

Kevin, what was MHMaley talking about the other day when he suggested that there was a COVID outbreak related to a DQ in Jackson?    True or false?

  4. Kevin Scheunemann

    jjf,

Maley is like the 5th radical liberal drawing attention to it. I find that very interesting.

Here is statement I posted the other 4 times this week.

“We had 2 younger employees, who were dating, test positive. They were not in the facility when symptoms first appeared. As a precaution, we tested employees in immediate contact and all have been “negative”. I coordinated with ADQ and Health department and we are following strict protocols, and both organizations allowed us to remain open after sanitation of the store and following laid out protocols. At beginning of each shift we test temperature, and have employees fill out a health questionaire provided by health department. So far, no issues. All staff is masked up and we have shut down lobby. Young people are getting together socially, as we saw in TV news story in this area. It is just unfortunate it is listed on health department web site this way because we are sure it was an outside social gathering as the vector of transmission. You get listed if there is 2 or more cases at your workplace in 14 days. We are 100% sure this came from outside workplace and close proximity of 2 employees who socially gather outside of work. there have been no further issues, when first learning of this over 10 days ago.

UPDATE: the 2 employees are back to work and have recovered. I will be opening lobby up again since I no longer have to give staff off for testing.

This is interesting. We are finding young people getting this from parties and social outings. How far ahould a boss invade the privacy of his staff so he does not have to endure snarky questions like this? Do I forbid them from social outings, which health department says idms the chief vector of transmission right now? (Check out chanbel 12 news on it.) Especially when it is done in a way to puposely smear the organization?

    Any answers to that jjf?

I found it unfair that my business got listed when we had nothing to do with vector of transmission. Here department lists it because they had to disclose where they work when their positive test came back. It was employees that caught it in their off time due to social exploits… am I suppose to regulate that now as a boss?

Its all moot now. Today is Day 15 of the posotive confirmations, should be on “resolved” list today.

  5. Jason

    >Kevin, what was MHMaley talking about the other day when he suggested that there was a COVID outbreak related to a DQ in Jackson?    True or false?

Stop celebrating, grow up, and be a man.

  6. Randall Flagg

I found it unfair that my business got listed when we had nothing to do with vector of transmission.

I disagree.  It is important for the public to know where COVID+ people work so they can decide whether to go there or not.  Even though they did not have symptoms at work they could have easily already been infected as it can take up to 14 days for symptoms to appear.  Thus, others could already be infected as we know the tests are not 100% reliable.

That begin said you handled it very appropriately Kevin.

  7. Mar

I disagree with you Randall about listing a business that has been listed because an employee rests positive for the Chinese virus, especially if that business has passed all sanitation and health inspections.
    Where does it end?
If someone is hospitalized with the flu, should the business be listed. Or pneumonia? Or the mumps?
Certainly if a business doesn’t pass an inspection, list them, but if do everything right, then, don’t put them on a naughty list.

  8. Kevin Scheunemann

    Randall,

So when WHO says asymptomatic people are not transmitting the virus, they are wrong?

We have to dismiss reliability of testing?    1 of 2 never showed any symptoms at all, other one had brief symptoms for one day (which was their day off), which was only a mild headache, so can I dismiss  positive tests as being in error?

I thought we embraced science here.

I am not folllowing the train of thought here.   It sounds like you are saying I have to treat negative tests with skepticism and act like they are positive?    What is a business owner suppose to do?

Do you support me tracking and tracing my employees private lives?   I had an issue this week where “Dad’s girlfriend” of an employee tested positive.   that staff member hangs out with 5 other staff members socially, regularly.    The employee had to take off for 4 days while we waited for test result.    what do I do with other 5?   Health care protocols will not test those other 5 until that staff member’s test is in. (Only test if you have symptoms or in direct contact with a positive test.)   None of those 5 missed our protocol parameters at any time on temp taking and health dept questionaire.    The original employee did come back negative.       Do I tell dad of the employee, to stop risking my business?  Do I tell these employees to stop hanging out in their off time?    Do I treat his negative test with skepticism?   What I am driving at is:   many times, these businesses are not the issue.    It is what is being done in private lives, and personal social decision making is what is at issue.    How far should the privacy invasion go by the business?    If I know anything about liberal politics, I am certain many would say my information here has gone too far already….

I am all ears as to what to do in this “brave new word”.    I see many of my fellow business owners, regardless of industry, just done with this nonsense and just closing it down.      If you saw the behind the scenes supply chain shambles, across the board,  in the restaurant industry right now, you would be shocked.   I am shocked at long time equipment manufacturers just throwing it in and shutting it down because they do not want to deal with the political football of Virus politics conducted by the Mark Maley’s of the world.

  9. Le Roi du Nord

“So when WHO says asymptomatic people are not transmitting the virus, they are wrong?”

Is that what WHO says, or what you say?  WHO says that asymptomatic people can still transmit the virus, but it is less likely that symptomatic people.  Since you didn’t provide a source, nor did I.  But if you have something from WHO that backs up your claim, I’ll go with that.  I am always willing to learn.

  10. jjf

Jason and Kevin, could I have asked any more politely than I did?  I hadn’t heard anything beyond what MHMaley said.  I was puzzled because Kevin didn’t jump on it.

Kevin, you seem a little tense about this.  My question wasn’t snarky.

100% certainty?  I don’t know how you could know where it came from.  Isn’t it also possible that they caught it from some unmasked patron and took it to their social gatherings?

Answers to what?  Do you have the power to tell them what to do?  Why on Earth do you think you have that power?  You can tell them to show up for work or not, and that’s about it, right?  What do you do if an employee demonizes straws or meat in the back room?  Fire ’em, right?  Serves ’em right, the little snowflakes.

What is a business supposed to do?  Like the schools, clearly the answer is “open them up” and “openly defy the mask order.”  Because this Chinese virus is just the sniffles for many people.  Heck, add that to the sign, it’ll bring more customers, some from hours away!

  11. Kevin Scheunemann

    jjf,

In this case, the 2 dating employees were hanging out with a non-employee who tested positive.

This happened after masks were in place, which I find ironic.

I am only “tense” when gross misinformation on the facts of the Vector of transmission get thrown around here.

    Nord,

    WHO term was “very rare”.

  12. Le Roi du Nord

    k:

And there goes the flexible use of the English language.  Very rare is not the same as “people are not transmitting the virus”.  Twisting definitions to suit ideology. And you speak of “misinformation””

  13. Kevin Scheunemann

    Nord,

“Very Rare” means next to nothing to me.   It means it does not happen, if ever.

What does it means to you when you look at other very common vectors of transmission?

  14. jjf

Kevin, I thought you said you didn’t care if your patrons wore masks or not.

What do you do if an employee demonizes straws or meat in the back room?

  15. Jason

    >WHO says that asymptomatic people can still transmit the virus, but it is less likely that symptomatic people.

No one needs to reply to your stupid questions Lieroy, since you still maintain that Trump is working to dismantle NATO and that Support excludes Monetary Donations.

  16. Kevin Scheunemann

    jjf,

I don’t care, but my staff is required to where masks under Evers order now.

It’s one thing to tell staff they must.   It is quite another to tell a customer they must wear a mask.

I don’t get what your point is here.   We know the Vector of transmission is personal social decision making here.

  17. Le Roi du Nord

    k:

It is so sad that the education you got (or ignored) didn’t include proper used and understanding of the English language.  I’m sure that your difficulties with using the best words to express yourself have caused you much frustration and resentment.   But it isn’t too late, seek remedial help.  I’m sure the local public school or tech college can assist you.

  18. Kevin Scheunemann

    Nord,

So when you assess risk as a business owner, is there a difference between ZERO and 1 in one billion?

    My answer is: No.

  19. Mar

Apparently, Le Roi is advocating for a total shut down of state businesses so it will help Senile Joe.
And I bet Old Le Roi is really scared he will catch the Chinese virus, even though it is is very, very rare for people like him to catch the virus.

  20. Randall Flagg

So when WHO says asymptomatic people are not transmitting the virus, they are wrong?

The WHO never said they are not transmitting it.  Just that they don’t know but it appears to be rare.  However research is still new.  For example:

    https://www.sciencealert.com/all-carriers-of-sars-cov-2-have-high-levels-of-the-virus-regardless-of-symptoms

We have to dismiss reliability of testing?

We know people have tested negative and then positive, so yes, negative tests are not an indication the person in contact with other carriers does not have COVID.  And I will note reliability includes the amdinistration of the test, not just the test itself.

It sounds like you are saying I have to treat negative tests with skepticism and act like they are positive?    What is a business owner suppose to do?

I am saying once someone who works for you tests positive, you have to treat negatives on other workers tests as preliminary.

Do you support me tracking and tracing my employees private lives?

    No

How far should the privacy invasion go by the business?

If someone who works at your business tests positive, the public should know.  That allows them to use that knowledge, along with your safety policies you described, and make an informed decision.  I am not saying this has to happen forever, just until we have a reliable vaccine.

  21. Randall Flagg

Apparently, Le Roi is advocating for a total shut down of state businesses so it will help Senile Joe.

Thanks for admitting those who are against masks and other measures to combat COVID are doing so because they fear it will hurt Trump.

  22. jjf

I dunno, this whole contact-tracing routine seems like a tremendous violation of Constitutional rights, and we all know you can’t trust the government and that if you tell them something they’ll probably mis-use it, and it’s fun to not enforce their mask order, and heaven knows people won’t tell the truth if you ask them…  so why can we trust their story that they got it from an infected friend?  Maybe they were trying to cover for their employer, right?

  23. Le Roi du Nord

    k:

Where did you get the “1 in one billion” figure? WHO, or did you make that up as well.

No mar, I am not in favor of a total shit down. Can you show where and when I said that, or are you making stuff up as well?

  24. Le Roi du Nord

    Shut. My apologies

  25. Mar

My apologies, Le Roi, you did not say that.
    jjf did.
    Again, I apologize.
See, it is easy to admit mistakes when you are wrong.
    You should try it someday.

  26. jjf

    Uh, I said what?  Where?

  27. Mar

jjf:”What is a business supposed to do?  Like the schools, clearly the answer is “open them up” and “openly defy the mask order.”  Because this Chinese virus is just the sniffles for many people.  Heck, add that to the sign, it’ll bring more customers, some from hours away!”
Yep, keep things closed. Schools, businesses but not government or protests, rioters and looting.

  28. jjf

I wish this site had a sarcasm font, you know, to assist the people who can’t see it.

  29. Le Roi du Nord

“just the sniffles for many people.”

    And fatal to 16000+ folks.

  30. Le Roi du Nord

    Apologies, that should read “160000+”.

  31. Jason

    >Apologies, that should read “160000+”.

You really should not get so worked up, slow down, and proof read before you click “Post Comment”.  It’s really not that hard.

  32. Le Roi du Nord

Correct, j. But at least I make an effort to correct my mistakes. Perhaps you can straighten out others here that seem to wallow in their errors, be they accidental or intentional.

  33. Jason

    >But at least I make an effort to correct my mistakes.

Sure, just like how you think Trump could dismantle NATO (which you never did explain in any way), or how you think giving a person money is not support.  :)  Too bad your mommy and daddy didn’t correct their mistake.

  34. jjf

Le Roi, he’s so close.  All he has to do is put two and two together.  What could Trump do to help destabilize and dismantle NATO?

    It’s a mystery!

But if you correct yourself, you’re just too excited!

  35. Jason

    >Le Roi, he’s so close.  All he has to do is put two and two together.  What could Trump do to help destabilize and dismantle NATO?

Yeah, so close, a couple of things that stop me from putting them together:  I know that words have meaning, and I’m an intelligent and logical thinker.

    >destabilize and dismantle NATO?

Nice of you to try to spin your buddies words, the original quote did not include “destabilize”.  So, since you’re now softening his words, maybe you can explain to us all just how a single person can “DISMANTLE NATO”.   Start with telling us what you think NATO is, that might help you understand just how stupid that sentence was in the first place.  And do it honestly, without trying to slip additional words and thoughts in.

  36. jjf

Or we could look it it from a different direction.

What would Putin like to see happen to NATO?

Honestly?  You mean with more personal insults?  Send me a few selfies.

  37. Jason

    >Or we could look it it from a different direction.  What would Putin like to see happen to NATO?

Oh so now you’re twisting this to “He didn’t mean Trump when he wrote ‘ trump as he works to dismantle NATO'” …  You think he meant to write ‘Putin as he works to dismantle NATO’?

You’re dumber than I gave you credit for.

  38. jjf

Nope, I didn’t twist.  Just asked a slightly different question.

Because that’s what I said, right?    Because you “know that words have meaning” and you’re “an intelligent and logical thinker.”

    And civil, too!

  39. Jason

    >Nope, I didn’t twist.  Just asked a slightly different question.

Which is by definition twisting.  It’s nice you’re sticking up for your buddy Lieroy, but he said the words, he can defend them.  So far he hasn’t since writing them, which makes every time he’s called K out with the “words have meaning” tripe, a hypocritical douchebag move.  Yes, he’s that uncivil.

  40. jjf

I dunno, if someone says “Trump is trying to dismantle NATO” I can imagine what they might mean.  Why can’t you?

  41. dad29

As it turns out, LeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeRoy is an agent of Merkel’s government, which is crying loudly about losing 1/3rd of the US troops in Germany.

He’s not a registered agent, but we know he’s been bought and paid-for by Merkel.  Adam Schiff says so, just like Rachel does.

  42. Jason

    >I dunno, if someone says “Trump is trying to dismantle NATO” I can imagine what they might mean.  Why can’t you?

If only Leroy recognized that (and you as well).  Instead he shreds almost every post of K’s taking those written words literally without any imagination to meaning… and then responds with snark like “Words have meaning” and “You must have a special K dictionary”.  On top of that, of course you pile onto it, instead of thinking about the “Self-policing” you are whining is not here.

tldr; If Leroy would act more civil, I would have completely ignored that statement of his.  He’s not, so I gave him some of his own medicine, and guess what, he, and you, don’t like it.   Too bad.

  43. Le Roi du Nord

Sure j, what does, “the earth is 6000 years old” mean to you?

Or when k calls me a murderer, what does that mean?

  44. Le Roi du Nord

    dad:

No, you are wrong again.  Feel more important now?

  45. Jason

    Whooooosh!

  46. dad29

Not a convincing denial, LeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeRoy.  We need an investigation of your citizenship status AND your lobbyist status.

    The spirits compel us.

  47. Le Roi du Nord

Investigate all you want, you are still wrong.
