In other words, states like California will have more representation in Congress at the expense of states like Wisconsin.
President Donald Trump’s effort to exclude people in the U.S. illegally from being counted in the process for divvying up congressional seats was dealt another blow Wednesday when the Census Bureau’s director indefinitely halted an effort to gather data on the citizenship status of every U.S. resident.
Bureau workers laboring to comply with the Trump order were instructed to “’stand down’ and discontinue their data reviews,” Census Bureau Director Steven Dillingham said in a memo.
A review indicated problems with the data that would require additional work, Dillingham said.
Awful. Just awful.
Liberals like Nord cheer.
k:
No cheers, I just feel, unlike you, that the constitution should be followed:
“counting the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed.”
(as amended, Article 1, Section 2)
I thought you conservatives were all about following the Constitution? Guess you have proven that to be incorrect yet again.
I knew you would cheer.
If you actually read earlier in that section it refers to “electors”.
Last I checked, unless you are in a radical crazy Marxist hamlet, “electors” means citizens, not illegals.
I know it is hard for you, but you must read whole Constitution, not just pervert a part of it in your twisted liberalism.
True, it says both, “whole persons”, and “electors”.
Perhaps we should let Constitutional scholars determine the intent. That will no doubt be troublesome for you and your ilk, as scholarship is scorned by you folks.
Nord
For over 200 years it has always meant citizens.
Only crazy libs like you muddy the objective waters and pervert something so simple into something it is not. So Constitution applies to everyone, everywhere? If that was true, you libs would cry America imperialism.
Awful. Just awful.
As if the sociopath knows anything about the Constitution.
Do you have a citation for that claim, k?
According to Pew:
“The census count includes everyone living in the United States, except for foreign tourists and business travelers in the country temporarily, according to Census Bureau rules. For apportionment purposes since 1990, military and civilian federal employees stationed abroad and their dependents are counted as living in a state if they provided a state address in their employment records. The District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and U.S. Island area populations are excluded from the apportionment total because they have no voting representation in Congress.”
“Pew” is part of the radical lib cabal I was referring to.
You should know the disinformation PR wing of your Marxist tribe well.
k:
I looked through your posts on this there, and nowhere did you refer to a “radical lib cabal”. Are you confused again, or just making stuff up again?
I have given you a quote from the Constitution, and a source for additional information. You have provided, as usual, nothing but your bias. No surprise there.
I couched it as “crazy lib”.
“couched” or confused, you still constantly make stuff up to sooth your ego.
“A review indicated problems with the data that would require additional work, Dillingham said.”.
Typical lazy swamp creature speak.
FYI: Dillingham was nominated by trump, and confirmed by a R controlled Senate. Now you know who to blame if you don’t like he he did his job.
Sorry , that should be “how”.
“If you actually read earlier in that section it refers to “electors”.

I don’t know Kevin, the history of the census is pretty clear. Since 1790 we have counted non-citizens for apportionment. Only in the last decade or so have Republicans been trying to exclude illegal immigrants. And if those immigrants started voting republican, those Representatives would halt their push immediately. Self serving the Party is not governing in my book.
