My column for the Washington County Daily News is online and in print. Here’s a slice:
What can we do about the exploding crime rate? First, we have to collectively decide that we want to do something about it. Politics trail culture and there is a significant cultural movement that not only accepts more crime, but views its destabilizing effect as necessary to drive social change. Until our culture rejects that movement for the cancer it is, there will always be political support for the policies that empower criminals.
Second, assuming we actually want to change it, we must drive change in local elections. Most of the decisions about funding law enforcement, use of force policies, prosecutions, etc. are made by local governments, elected district attorneys, elected sheriffs, and elected judges. People make policy and we must elect people who will make policies that protect our communities.
Most things that happen are not the result of some mysterious force. They are the result of decisions that we make. Until we decide that we want to have less crime, it will not happen.
I don’t know, I was just looking at WB crime rates 2006-2019 and it has been pretty static and vanilla over the last 15 years or so. Locally speaking, WB can’t really do much about crime that is exploding in the larger cities nation-wide. Change would have to come on the State and National level for a West Bendite to help at all in my opinion. The vast majority of smaller cities and towns aren’t seeing that explosion.
I am not saying it is not a problem, but let’s be more specific and call it what it is. The Democrat Party is fully invested in using riots, crime and discord to get elected and keep getting elected. Then they pretend that those riots are not their doing, but that of a few bad white guys and a cry for help from minorities.
Not an election year and where is all the rioting and BLM movement? Answer: There are no Dem Party hired organizers on off election years so no free food, no hype, no publicity and virtually no violent marches or rioting. It is in their interest to keep it out of the public eye on off years or we would become even more de-sensitized to it than we already are.
The problems is that many liberals want the high crime rate and high murder rates.
Why else would you get rid of bail for most of those arrested, even those arrested for violent crimes.
Why else would they try to defend the police.
Why else would they empty out jails and prisons, including those with violent convictions.
But to be honest, you get who you voted for and elections have consequences .
And those who live in inner cities continually vote for liberals, so they get what they deserve.
While slightly off topic, it seems that the pervert judge who watches babies being raped and distributes child porn pled guilty today on the child porn charges.

No, Le Roi is rejoicing. It is a white (likely liberal) ‘honorable’ judge. There is such a thing as white privilege and he will experience it first hand at sentencing. Just porn, no evidence of acting out his perversions on real children, he pled guilty and will pretend true contrition. Probably 2 years in jail commuted to immediate probation for time served and community service at an Elementary school. If the (hopefully) ex-judge had pled not guilty for some crazy reason it might have been different. He is a ‘public servant’. They have to do an awful lot just to lose their jobs, much less go to jail. He will be a paid public servant again within 3 years.
The perv’s plea deal gets him two federal mandatory minimum sentences of at least five years each. In exchange the state charges go away. Still seems like too cushy a deal for an authority figure who sat in judgement of others.

Oh, and yes Mar, I almost completely agree. I would use the term Democrat, however. The average liberal has never been programmed to ‘want’ high crime. They have been programmed simply to blame it on racists and institutional racism rather than on perpetrators. And, of course, that racists and thus institutional racism is the fault of Republicans. It is the (primarily local) lawmakers that inject institutional racism into our society. Democrats know the reasons, liberals just do what they are taught, follow the leader.
Yeah, yeah and murder has minimums that are commuted or dismissed early all of the time. I was being a little facetious, he will do some time or there would likely be public outrage. He will be sentenced to the 10 years, but I would bet that his first parole scheduling will be under 2 years, or that he will be eligible for early parole based on wording purposely added to get him out by cronies. Under 2 years.
Well, my guess is that unless he is in protective custody, meaning 23 hours in a cell, the brothers will show him some white privilege.
He’ll become someone’s bitch in there.
If he isn’t sent to one of those country club penitentiaries…
