Violence Ignored at Oscars

Remember that these are the people who insist that they are our moral guides.

As was widely predicted, Smith won the best actor Oscar for his performance in King Richard. And so, just a few minutes after he had been on stage assaulting someone on live television, he was back on the same stage, receiving a standing ovation, and tearfully declaring: “I want to be a vessel for love”. Seriously. Who knows what he’d be like if he wanted to be a vessel for hate.

The women made some ill-judged gags about wanting to grope the best-looking actors in the room…

And then we had Samuel L Jackson, John Travolta and Uma Thurman presenting an award together to celebrate the 28th anniversary of Pulp Fiction. Are we really celebrating 28th anniversaries now?

Just one more display of why you can’t take those people seriously.

Lots of emotionally unstable people out there, many are psychopathic, too.

Cannot find a flying damn to give about this.

After seeing the videos, it was a fake slap and incident.
No one watches the Oscar’s so this brings more interest to the show.

Mar, at first I thought the same thing. It looked fake. But after seeing some behind the scenes videos from people’s cell phones, it looks as if it wasn’t faked. Obviously very few know for sure.

Obviously none of it matters at all. Just 2 adults who didn’t see eye to eye and one took it too far.

You’re right Johnny, someone took it too far. Was it Rock who told a joke about a person’s physical problem or Smith defending her honor?
For me, the blame goes on Rock. You can joke about many things, but a physical problem crosses the line for me.

Both the joke and the reaction were out of bounds IMO. As I tell my kid, there is never a reason to hit another person unless you are in physical danger. There are always better ways to deal with that.

I agree and the joke Rock told was pretty flat and lame. It wasn’t even funny.
