While not without flaws (what politician is?), Darling’s positive impact on Wisconsin will reverberate for decades to come and legions of kids have a better future thanks to the School Choice she advanced. Thanks for the service, Senator.

Early Exclusive: State Sen. Alberta Darling will announce her retirement later this morning. She’s 78, and has served in Madison 32 years (New Class of ’92). Alberta has been influential in School Choice and tax relief over the years.
I met her recently at a fund raiser. While I disagree with most of her stances, she was very nice and complimented my wife on her dress. But watching her walk around, you can tell that it is getting much more difficult to move around and it is no surprise that it might be time for her to call it a career.
I’m pretty sure that Polly Williams may had school.choice happen more than Darling.
Yes, Williams was key. But Darling kept pushing the ball down the field long after Polly left the biz.
