A dozen years of conservative fiscal policy has led to the lowest tax burden and the highest tax collections on record.
The Wisconsin Policy Forum released a new study on Thursday that says the state’s tax burden is at its lowest level ever.
“With a historic state income tax cut now in effect, the combined state and local taxes paid by Wisconsin residents and businesses in 2022 fell as a share of income in the state to the lowest level on record,” the report states. “In fiscal year 2022 (the 12 months ended on June 30), state and local tax revenues fell as a share of personal income in the state to just under 10.1%, down from 10.3% in 2021.”
[…]
“One major cause of the drop in 2022 – though far from the only one – is the $1 billion a year cut in state income taxes approved as part of the 2021-23 budget,” the report added. “Another is the state’s policy of limiting most property tax increases by local governments in the state – from towns and cities to school districts.”
Policy forum researchers say it is also key that Wisconsin taxpayers saw a 6.7% growth in their personal income in 2021, that’s the most recent year with available data.
This is 100% due to the repub leadership of the Walker years and the lazy “gavel in – gavel out” actions since then. While I think there are lots the party in power should be doing in these lean times … It has been effective against our insurrectionist governor.
Hopefully repubs retain full control of the state senate and assembly over the next four years because Phoney nEvers made it clear he’s coming for your bank account.
Phoney does Babblin’ Joe:
Now, I am not naïve enough to believe that 100 percent of the people who cast their ballot in November agree with me on every issue—that’s probably generous. Depending on the issue, it’s probably closer to only 60, 70, 80 percent or so, based on the latest Marquette Poll.

nEvers was re-elected with 51.2% of the vote.
It is good to be the King. Evers still has better than a billion dollars of federal discretionary assistance (beer money) to distribute to those five urban areas that gave him that 51.2% of the vote. Just yesterday all five queued up to kiss the ring.
Sorry, but it means nothing.
Taxes in Wisconsin are still higher than many other states.
Here in Arizona, a $250,000 has less than a thousand dollar property tax and income tax is less than 3%. Sales tax is about 8%.
Merlin, I sure wish this had a chance of passing… Unfortunately too many apathetic voters will do the TLDR, and circle No.
