Evers is moving fast to get the high court to give the Executive Branch more unrestrained power.
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Democratic Gov. on Tuesday sued the Republican-controlled Legislature, arguing that it is obstructing basic government functions, including signing off on pay raises for university employees that were previously approved.
Evers is asking the liberal-controlled Wisconsin Supreme Court to take the case directly, bypassing lower courts.
Evers said it was “a bridge too far” and “just bull s—” that Republican state lawmakers were telling 35,000 University of Wisconsin employees who were expecting pay raises to “stick it.”
Doesn’t look like a simple black/white discussion. Evers is a raving (D) maniac, of course, but once that budget is passed, Leggies don’t get to play with the spend decisions. That IS an executive branch function.
The AP story (of course) tells pnly the Evers side of the story. The Leggies will have their own–which we will never see unless we read their briefs.
Evers spend all of his WuFlu slush funds yet? That’s executive branch discretionary spending, right? It’s OPM, so he should have no problem sharing a bit with his darlings at UW. Maybe he doesn’t want to waste capital buying already bought votes. Can’t tell the public education mafia that though. Better to point fingers elsewhere.
When will the legislature countersue for each of Stupid Ever’s vetos? That will pave the way for citizens to sue as well.
