Trump Chooses Vance for VP

Meh.

The first-term senator from Ohio is now by Trump’s side as vice-presidential running mate – and, by extension, an early frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination in 2028 – with a reliably conservative voting record and Midwestern roots that Republicans hope will boost support at the ballot box.

What I like: he’s a veteran, young, smart, appeals to middle and lower-class Americans, has a beautiful all-American family, and he’s quick on his feet.

What I don’t like: he’s more populist than conservative and is more of a mini-me Trump.

In general, the VP pick matters little. The election will be decided at the top of the ticket. Vance will be an effective communicator of the Trump message. But he doesn’t broaden the appeal.

One thing this pick does confirm is that the Republican Party has moved decidedly into the more populist direction. Trump no longer feels a need to pick a classic conservative or libertarian Republican to unify the party. It’s already unified behind him.

Vance is a young politician and very undefined. After watching his speech last night, I wasn’t blown away. I was hoping for more youthful energy seeing as how he is 39 years old. He stumbled on stage and I felt like the bright lights and the crowd got to him a bit, understandably in this scenario. He did come off as very authentic, which is rare for a politician.

Ultimately he did his job for last night. He hit on a few hot button points without any real solutions, sucked up to Trump, and didn’t screw up. A solid grade of a B for him.

I know right now that everyone is gonna be SICK of hearing all the Dem commercials about how he talked shit about Trump up to 3 years ago and then flipped flopped to advance his own career.

Ummmm. rumors swirling that Vance is not being well received. Is he gonna make it to the election? And IF not, how does that look for Trump?

Rumors are that Kamala is even less well-received. Is she going to get the nod in Chicago? If not, how does that look for Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants?

Kamala has the nomination locked up. No question. She has actually boosted the Dem excitement in the last week. Will it last?? Doubtful at this level.

But Vance has honestly come out of the gates awful. He could turn it around as well. Personally I think it would look terrible to try and swap him out after the convention. Vance just doesn’t have energy, nor is he entertaining like Trump. Should be a fun few months.

Kamala has the nomination locked up.

So did Biden, 3 weeks ago.

You are most likely to be correct. She’ll get the nod. Then she’ll get nearly the same reception she did last time she ran for President (nomination.)

And we know that the $81 million figure was smurf. Hope you didn’t swallow that bait.
