Evers Says He Won’t Try to Close Schools

Uh huh

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) – Governor Tony Evers said he is not planning on ordering schools to start the year virtually, saying individual school districts are doing a good job thus far forming plans.

“I am extremely pleased with the conversations that school districts across the state are having,” Evers told reporters during a media briefing. “Not only with their teachers and faculty members but making sure that the community’s involved.”

Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R – Juneau) said he appreciated the governor affirming his position on schools but is concerned Evers may change positions.

This from the same man who said for weeks that he didn’t have the power to pass a mask mandate, then he did it. He’s the same guy who is hiding a likely felon on his staff. He’s the same guy who said he wasn’t going to issue a lockdown order days before he did. Governor Evers is not an honest man and has earned a healthy level of skepticism.

Expect Evers to try to close the schools in a couple of weeks under the fig leaf that “something changed.”

    A likely felon?  Do tell.

  2. jjf

Oh, Fitz sez!  Not yet charged, not yet prosecuted.  So “likely.”  Right.

    Define “party to a call.”

    (2) It is not unlawful under ss. 968.28 to 968.37: […] (b) For a person acting under color of law to intercept a wire, electronic or oral communication, where the person is a party to the communication or one of the parties to the communication has given prior consent to the interception.

There’s all sorts of things we don’t know about this circumstance.  Did Evers ask the staffer to be on the call?  Who else was on the call?  Who was invited?  Who was asked to listen?  Are they all parties?  Are they not “parties” until they talk?

Tin-Pot Tony is awaiting instructions from Gau & Palm.  When they’ve written his script for him, he’ll read it aloud after a couple hours’ practice.

Again with Dad29 and his obsession with women in government.

And jjf still has nothing to contribute.

  6. jjf

Do you have any answers to my entirely relevant questions, Mar?  Or just more content-free not-so-snappy comebacks?

  7. Mar

    What relevant questions?
    Seriously, which one?

  8. jjf

Who was on the call?  How were they invited?

Oh, there’s more.  Was it on speakerphone?  Did everyone know who was in the room(s) on all ends?

Seems kind of presumptuous to say “likely felon” when it’s not even clear if there’s been any investigation, much less anyone charged.

Well, since we went down this subject earlier, i would have thought you remembered the conversation.
And then I thought maybe you would have read the article Owen linked to.
    But I guess not.
    Too much to expect.

How soon do we want to bet that an entire school is closed down and goes virtual due to a COVID outbreak in WI? Two months?

How soon do we hear about just a single classroom having to be quarantined in WI? One month?

Owen sez:  Evers is not an honest man

Well, yes. But you are reading it wrong.  This is Phony nEvers telegraphing to his brown shirts what his move will be if too many co-called “community’s involved”  – or private schools – decide NOT to open virtually.

He has no reason to close virtual schools because that is exactly what his unionistas asked him to mandate statewide.

“….but making sure that the community’s involved.”  –nEvers

Odd that Phony doesn’t give a sheet about local involvement when it comes to arbitrary unscientific mandates and made-up-as-you-go rules.

(pssssst:  Wrong link, Owen.  Here’s the CBS58 one.)

JonnyV……one more time:  keep your kid at home.  Then he/she is perfectly safe!!

Other parents, being adults and all, may want their kids in school.  So what?

  13. Mar

Jonny, so if 1 or 2 kids get it, so what? No reason to shut down a classroom, much less a school.
And no reason to shut down the entire state if a couple of kids get the virus and has no symptons.
The only caveat would be a special education classroom with virus vulnerable students.

arbitrary unscientific mandates and made-up-as-you-go rules.

Which way do you want it, MjM?  State-level mandates or local control?

Jonny, so if 1 or 2 kids get it, so what? No reason to shut down a classroom, much less a school

Wow, much science!  Much medicine!  Much epidemiology!

The only caveat would be a special education classroom with virus vulnerable students.

    Or, maybe, older teachers.
