Barr Resigns

Harrumph

Donald Trump ousted Bill Barr as attorney general Monday after a face-to-face White House meeting – having raged at the chief law enforcement officer keeping the Hunter Biden probe secret.

Trump announced the departure in a tweet which presented Barr’s decision to go as his own.

‘Our relationship has been a very good one, he has done an outstanding job!’ Trump said, then said Barr would ‘spend the holidays with his family.’

[…]

The departure came the afternoon after it emerged Barr used the force of his office to instruct prosecutors investigating Hunter Biden not to take any steps that might cause the probe to be publicly revealed in the run-up to the election.

Trump publicly complained about Barr over the weekend. He told Fox News Barr ‘should have stepped up.’

‘All he had to do is say an investigation’s going on,” Trump said. ‘When you affect an election, Bill Barr, frankly, did the wrong thing.’

Barr did a disservice for the American people in keeping the investigation of Hunter Biden a secret. I don’t know if Hunter is guilty, but the fact that someone so close to a presidential candidate is being seriously investigated for illegal dealings with foreigners and corruption is something that the American people should have been able to weigh in the balance when making their choice.

By and large, Barr did a decent job as AG, but in the end, he is, has been, and always will be, a creature of Washington.

Trump didn’t get enough “harrumph”s out of Barr.  That’s why he’s gone.

Hey dumbass, none of their spouses got to have a private convo in a plane on a airport tarmac with the Attorney General about “golf, travel, grandchildren’s, ect.” during the 2016 campaign.

Better check where your a$$ is, nobody mentioned wives but you.

On principle, the investigation on Hunter absolutely should have remained secret until there is enough evidence to go to trial.  Innocent until proven guilty.  Unfortunately that is not what Government is today.  Per the policies of the day where even possible scandal is front page news in anti-partisan media sources, it should have been all over Fox news.  Republicans should blame Fox.  Democrats always have a leak for a new scandal, their news sources just get dirtier I guess…

Tuerqas, have you watched Fox? They were all over the Biden family scandal along with the NY Post but hardly anybody else.
And I disagree about publicizing the investigation. When a presidential candidate and family are being investigated, that should be known, no matter what party they belong to.

No, I don’t watch any mainstream news, not worth my time.

If it was all over Fox, then it wasn’t secret, was it?  I was commenting as if Owen’s words were fact rather than fiction.  You can’t force liberal news owned feeds to report on stories damning to liberals.  That is the whole problem with having bias owned sources, isn’t it?  I know they are talking about ‘regulating’ Facebook because it is now censoring its site, but I question what the difference is between Facebook and mainstream media?  The way they are taxed?  There is no non-partisan news anymore.  What is the difference between what and how CNN reports ‘news’ and what Facebook does?

And I disagree about publicizing the investigation. When a presidential candidate and family are being investigated, that should be known, no matter what party they belong to.

To me this only makes any sense if there are consequences for lying.  How many ‘red hot scandals’ have there been about candidates and Presidents that were completely unfounded in the last few decades?  Never any backlash to anyone.  Why?  Because the publisher’s libelous intents were perfectly fulfilled, but libel is only for those who are against people in power.  The US has accepted that their news only has to be what they want to hear.  Proof is optional and subjective testimony is fine so long as it agrees with their dogma.  Your comment above basically approves lies to be spread about everyone, and is a very short step away from mob rule if we don’t have to wait for proof of any wrongdoings.  And let’s be real, not 3 people would have been swayed by a completely true Hunter Biden story even if it contained him admitting guilt of murder.  If anything, the Dem fraud machine would have been motivated to send a few more trucks of early votes into the counting machines and Biden would have won by a greater amount.  Just my opinion.

I mentioned spouses because I have a deeper grasp of these things than a stupid, no-nothing ass wipe like you.  Unfortunately you have proven yourself too stupid to catch anything with nuances. I am sure the other commenters here will get the “spouse” relevance to the topic at hand. And I was not referring to “wives”, I said “spouses”. In this example it is a husband that met with the decider.

    https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/09/politics/loretta-lynch-nbc-attorney-general-clinton-email-investigation/index.html

Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch said she would have resigned from the Clinton email server investigation had it been legally advised following her meeting with former President Bill Clinton.
“I knew it was going to raise questions in people’s minds,” Lynch said in an NBC News interview that aired Monday night. “ You always get a legal answer as to whether or not a recusal is required. And had it been, that’s what I would have done.”
During the 2016 presidential campaign, Lynch – who was the attorney general at the time – met with former President Clinton while the two were on the same tarmac in Phoenix. The impromptu meeting raised questions about the Justice Department’s investigation at the time into Hillary Clinton’s email server.
Lynch later said her meeting with Bill Clinton didn’t touch on any matter pending before the department. According to NBC News’ Lester Holt, she said the conversation mostly consisted of small talk.

This part is rich: So what you do is you always consult the legal experts.
Wonder if any of those “experts” were in the 50+ who signed that letter that the Hunter thing was “Russian disinformation”.  Biden even quoted that during the debate.  Add that one to the “Biden lies/gaffes” running total.
I am so looking forward to the Biden-Harris administration. It is going to be “lit” when they get push back.  Might be another reason to implement this plan: “I’ll develop some disease and say I have to resign.”

“but I question what the difference is between Facebook and mainstream media?”
The biggest thing is that Facebook, Twitter and others cannot be sued.
The media can be for libel and slander.
But in terms of reporting the news, they are the same, they all suck, including Fox, most of the time.

It’s not hard to conclude that “leRoi” is actually a 13-year-old–at least in the mental department.

    Sure you do.

Dad, you are giving him or her too much credit.
Most 13 year olds have more than 5 brain cells.

Barr has never been involved in Trump’s perpetual media circus. That’s Rudy Guiliani’s function. Barr’s job has been to set the table through a formal process for credible prosecutions and convictions. Throwing media bombshells around isn’t in Barr’s job description. Again, that’s Rudy’s lane to travel. They have each served a different purpose.

Hopefully Barr has done his job well at Justice. In any case his presence won’t be required for the upcoming congressional knife fight whose outcome will be a 100% political solution.

Well you’re the only on this discussion that didn’t understand what was written.

Whooops, Leroy finally posted something that is 100% fact.  He is an idiot, prima facie evidence submitted on December 15, 2020 at 12:06 pm
