From the front page of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
Two stories with the exact same context. One group of legislators proposing legislation for one thing. Another group of legislators proposing legislation for another thing. Yet the newspaper felt the need to call out that “Republicans lawmakers” are proposing something they disagree with but “Wisconsin lawmakers” are proposing the thing they like.
It is almost a meaningless exercise to point this out anymore. It’s blatant. They don’t care.
So true, and yet Republicans and Democrats each believe their news sources are unbiased. It is just too bad everyone has been successfully programmed to believe that politics are a profession. Dems especially, but Republicans to a lesser extent as well.
TERM LIMITS! Serious ones, not 12+ years in each category. 12 years as a state congressman and 12 years as a state senator and 12 years in the national House of Representatives and 12 years as a National senator and 8 years as a President. That equals a lot of years.
Biden has been in office for 50 years! Even Dems agree that to some level at least, power corrupts. Sorry Dems, but 50 years in office equals a lot of corruption or as politicos call it, a lot of experience at ‘playing the game’. The nice way of saying corruption.
Regarding the Dem proposal for ranked-choice voting for Congressional elections, not only is it a bad idea that is likely unconstitutional if limited to Congressional elections, but it is also unnecessary. I don’t recall the last Congressional race in which the winner received less than a majority of the vote. Indeed, I can only recall statewide elections in which the winner received less than a majority of the vote (cough…Evers…cough).
To expand on the last, I can recall only 5 elections for state or federal office in which the winner received less than a majority of votes:
– The 2020 Presidential election
– The 2018 gubernatorial election
– The 2018 attorney general election
– The 2016 Presidential election
– The 2002 gubernatorial election
Or is the Rat goal to run two candidates, a “moderate” and an avowed Socialist, in every election and hope that the tag team can together get a majority?
I should add the 2004 and 2000 Presidential elections to that list. I somehow doubt that the Dems would have gone 6-for-7 with a ranked-choice scheme.
Voting is a contest of styles and philosophies of government as much as a contest of people.
While I am the first person to call out liberal media bias, these headlines are correctly stated.
“Ranked-choice” is being pushed by both Dems and Repubs.
Sen. Kooyenga, (R-Brookfield) and Rep. Tony Kurtz (R-Wonewoc) are sponsors, along with their buddies Sen. Smith (D-of Eau Claire) and Rep. Riemer (D-Milwaukee). This is also being pushed heavily by wishywashy moderates who make up Democracy Found (whose sole purpose is to change all elections to ranked, claiming “politicians willing to compromise would be rewarded”)
The “overhaul” is being pushed by Sen. Stroebel (R-Saukville). The article itself is full of leftist propaganda, but the headline is proper.
