For now, the preliminary budget approved includes the maximum possible raises for staff, investments in equity programs like full-day, 4-year-old kindergarten, an online school for students in grades 6-12 and student-led initiatives like menstrual products distributed for free in school buildings.
To be honest, we are already doing that in our schools in conservative Mohave County in Arizona, at least some of the schools.
And Wauwatosa had half day kindergarten in the 1960’s.
In the schools I taught at, they had free pads to kids who needed them.
And we already have a 6-12 online school here in Kingman and additional school online school for those who fall behind.
Maybe Madison is catching up to more civilized school districts and trying to get rid of their liberal systemic racism.
