Frankly, it was news to me that Disney was self-governing. It seems that if Disney is intent on weighing in on politics, then it should have to live under the same rules as everyone else.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday signaled support for stripping Disney of its 55-year-old special status that allows the entertainment company to operate as an independent government around its Orlando-area theme park.
It’s the latest fallout in the feud between DeSantis, a Republican widely seen as a potential 2024 presidential contender, and Disney (DIS), Florida’s largest private employer, over a measure that bans schools from teaching young children about sexual orientation or gender identity.
PRobably something similar to our statutory carveouts for 1st class cities (Milwaukee).

It would be interesting if they lost their self government style of government.
One side, the counties would get a huge uptick in property taxes.
But then the counties would be responsible for the roads, sewer and water, fire and ambulance services and more.
Would the counties go for that?
Nah, just leave this one for reality to sort out.
Disney has always been in the feel good business and moving off of social neutrality will have significant negative consequences for Disney from the CEO on down. Let the effects of China Joe’s runaway inflation on disposable income become Disney’s problem. Let the inevitable soft boycott of disgusted parents and grandparents become Disney’s problem. Let economic reality do the work here until they decide just how much ‘social justice’ they can afford. Everything has a price tag whether it’s visible or not. At some point in the near term social tolerance will meet their economic tolerance and corrections will occur.
No need for DeSantis to do anything but be patient.
