Professor Fails Entire Class

Wow. I’d like to hear this whole story.

He sent a lengthy email to his Strategic Management class explaining that they would all be failing the course. He said the students proved to be incompetent and lack the maturity level to enter the workforce.

“It became apparent that they couldn’t do some of the most simple and basic things they should have been able to do,” said Horwitz.

In the email he cited examples of students cheating, telling him to “chill out,” and inappropriate conduct. He said students spread untrue rumors about him online, and he said at one point he even felt the need to have police protection in class.

“I was dealing with cheating, dealing with individuals swearing at me both in and out of class, it got to the point that the school had to put security guards at that class and another class,” said Horowitz.

At first blush, it looks like the professor is flaky and unstable. After all, could a whole class be this bad? Then again, he’s been a professor for 20 years and this is the first time he’s done this, so there must be something unusually bad about the kids in this class.

Sounds like this professor is patently uqualified to teach “Strategic Management”.

Maybe he should teach “Bad posturing 101” or “Failed classroom management 404” or “Remedial teacher tantrums”.

No, I would not blame the professor.
The world is changing with more kids/students who think the world owes them because that is what their parents have told the students.
I am pretty sure that most of these students were passed on to the next grade from elementary to high school because “they tried” or “they did their best”and if you try, you should not be punished by failing a grade.
Good for the professor- if the students didn’t know what he taugh tthem, then they deserve to fail.

    Dan,

Possible, but a supposed expert on “strategic management” cannot handle this better?

Uh, he failed every student in the class. Even the ones who had A’s and B+’s. Also, the two students who he had an issue with had already dropped the class (2 months ago). The dude is unhinged. Obviously the stress of his courseload got to him. It’s really sad and I feel bad for him. But he’s in the wrong, here.
