Trump Beginning to Lay Out Priorities

More of this.

“On my first day back in the White House, I will terminate every open borders policy of the Biden administration, stop the invasion on our southern border and begin the largest domestic deportation operation in American history,” Trump said at an Iowa campaign event in December.

None of this

The former president has projected a my-way-or-the-highway approach to international dealings, floating the idea of a universal 10% tax on all goods coming from countries outside the U.S., in an attempt to prioritize domestic production.

Or this

Trump has suggested using the National Guard to address crime, which he argues is worse than it’s ever been.

Do this

Trump intends to slash the federal [Education] department entirely, a 4,400-person operation with a $68 billion budget. Trump claims this would give full educational authority back to the states, even though an elimination of the department wouldn’t directly transfer over any new state power.

Meh. Should be done, but not a priority that actually impacts the lives of the American people.

“I will appoint a real special prosecutor to go after the most corrupt president in the history of America, Joe Biden, and go after the Biden crime family,”

    More of this.

Lots more. And it’s related to one below.

    None of this

I have no problem with his threatening such.

In March of 2018 Trump stuck a 10% tariff on imported aluminum and 25% tariff on imported steel. Mexico, Canada and the EU were exempted for the first six months, then Trump extended the exemption. South Korea, Brazil Argentina, and Australia were exempted permanently.

It’s a game where you can play favorites, and Trump beat the hell out of China doing what he did.

And FYI, a 10% across-the-board rate would lower the rate – as much as 57% – on some goods.

    Or this

    See: More of this above.

The NG should be preventing the criminality of illegal aliens right now. They should also be involved in the take down of illegal reefer farms run by illegal aliens in San Bernardino, Oregon, Maine, Oklahoma, and where ever else they are found.

We are being invaded by foreign nationals. Explain why the NG should not be involved.

but not a priority that actually impacts the lives of the American people.

    You are joking, yes?

If you find the total corruption of the US g’vment does not effect our lives you haven’t been paying attention.

Babblin’ Joe is president because of it.

MjM has the better of the discussion.

Aluminum and steel MUST be produced domestically for national defense purposes. Nice-to-have for other purposes, too. Bad enough that all our drugs are made in China and India and therefore subject to supply interruption on a whim. Don’t care that “DA UNION” manages wages, either, as labor is only about 5-7% of the cost of finished goods in a well-run manufacturing operation.

Want to know what really costs? Social Security and Medicare taxes, income taxes on corporations, ERISA, FLSA, OSHA, FMLA, health insurance, HR dweebs who shuffle State- and Fed- required paperwork around, and the lawyers who have to be on call.

Fix that first–and we notice that Trump doesn’t bring that stuff up at all.

  4. Owen

“Fix that first–and we notice that Trump doesn’t bring that stuff up at all.”

Yes. He utterly failed to take on the entitlement juggernaut that is bankrupting the nation in his first term. He isn’t even talking about it now.

  5. jonnyv

Buahahaha. Sure he will do all these things… wink wink. Much like his first go around, he is gonna work on enriching HIMSELF and his family. He won’t accomplish almost anything he says and will then “blame the swamp”. When in reality he is neck deep in that swamp as anyone else. The question is how much he can accomplish BY HIMSELF. Because that is what he is going to need to do, rule by executive order. All of which will be reversed by the next D president.

The man is unliked by a huge swath of the country and Washington DC. He is unable to negotiate. The only way he does anything is if he has a majority in both the House and Senate. He is a piss-poor businessman, yet a world class huckster. A convicted sex offender. And the sad part is that I still think we are in a 50/50 race. hahah.

  6. dad29

Much like his first go around, he is gonna work on enriching HIMSELF and his family.

You will provide documentation for your claim, I’m sure.

The man is unliked by a huge swath of the country and Washington DC.

Maybe 45% of “the country” (and growing smaller every day) and, yes, 90% of the Grifter Class occupying D.C.

He is a piss-poor businessman, yet a world class huckster.

Sure. Being piss-poor brought him from a NW of $200 million at the start to a NW of around $4BN now. We all know that YOU did much better, but you’re just too humble to show us your numbers.

    A convicted sex offender.

That is a lie and a slander. We expect such from you, of course.

  7. MjM

    A convicted sex offender.

This from a perv who takes his kids to dick-swinging parades.

  8. jonnyv

4 Billion. Where did you pull that number out of. Currently estimated at 2.6B by Forbes. And that was before the recent conviction.

Trump was convicted of sexual abuse and defamation. That is pretty self explanatory guys. Not to mention the dozen other women who accused him and never went to trial, but ok.

    https://www.npr.org/2022/10/17/1129491352/trump-hotels-overcharged-secret-service-agents

And his family getting some very convenient friendly deals with China and the Saudis while in office.

  9. dad29

Trump was convicted of sexual abuse

We’ve established that you have trouble with English so I’ll type really slowly: Some sex-fetish fantasist woman was awarded CIVIL damages for a mean tweet from Trump. That is not “a conviction” in any sense of the term. Further, at some point in time, sonny boy, you’ll learn that wealth attracts false accusations like Bidens attract bribe-and-influence money from foreigners, except the Biden Crime Family attracts more.

Forbes can “estimate” whatever it wants to.

You have documentation on the “family deals” with PRC and KSA, I’m sure. Share!!

Here’s the first line from your asinine little link: The Trump Organization appearsto have overcharged

You APPEAR to be overweight. The Brewers APPEAR to be a weak team. The Ukraine APPEARS to be invading Moscow.

In the 4th-last graf, NPR admits that legitimate waivers were granted to SS for their expenses. I think Carolyn Maloney appears to be wearing her tennis shoes on her head.

  10. jonnyv

So… you don’t believe in the jury process. You don’t believe in a right-leaning magazine that has been estimating wealth for decades. YOU basically believe what you want to. Good to know. It isn’t like he was JUST convicted of inflating his net worth or anything. LOLOL. But you know what he can sell??? Crappy merch to rubes. Who needs some gold sneakers!!! Or some cologne??? How are those NFTs that he sold going?

How about Trumps OWN tax documents that say he made 160 million off of international business dealings while he was president? I mean, he did promise to pause foreign deals when running, and then immediately backtrack on that when he was actually elected. Most presidents have the decency to wait until after they are out of office to cash in (other than book deals, they all do that shit). Doing multi-million dollar business deals with foreign governments sure seems like a small conflict of interest.

FWIW. I don’t appear to be overweight, although I probably am a little overweight. My 6-6 frame hides the extra bit of fat pretty well. I could probably stand to lose about 20 lbs. Cutting out soda this year should help with that a bit.

  11. Tuerqas

    >Much like his first go around, he is gonna work on enriching HIMSELF and his family.

JV if you are just going to talk out of your ass, please begin the harangue with “Fart” or “Shart” or something so that we know what is coming and can get the popcorn. Trump was the first modern day President to lose money while in office, a LOT of money. 2016 net worth $4.5 billion. 2020 net worth 2.5 billion. 2023 net worth, 2.6 billion.

Enriching himself? If he set up sweet heart deals that made him 2 billion during his next term (if elected), he would just be making his money back. Maybe Trump just couldn’t make a crap load of money because the money faucets in Washington don’t turn on for outsiders, but you are just plain proving your ignorance to make that claim. If that line of code from your liberal programmers is still being entered into your brain then you clearly can’t tell fact from fiction and the Kool-aid is wastefully splashing down your clothes like money on a Dem in office. And the real proof is in the net worth 5-10 years after office. Then you see the results of all the deals made while in office, unless you are a Biden where all that illegal money can never be fully laundered and must remain hidden.

    “Great” liberal Presidents:
FDR: Under100,000 when he took office, 60M when he left office.
Obama: 1.3M when he took office, 20.5M when he left office. Today: 70M
Biden 8M when he took office. Today: Opaque. Reports from liberal sources are 10M, but are just estimates as numbers are being held though defenders point at his homes and cars and say that his net worth is the amount of his homes and cars. What is real funny about that is the defenders point out over 2M in property and auto values over the last 4 years so he made (and saved) no other money whatsoever. Well, the Bidens are professionals at this with fifty years of experience. You would have to look at the accounts of every member of the extended Biden family and hanger on and use a crack team of investigative CPAs to even try and unravel it.
I am sure you could say the same thing about Trump’s fortune, but since he clearly made none of it while in office, it could only matter to a liberal who can somehow still believe that he enriched himself during his first Presidency term.

Enriching himself to the tune of negative 2 billion…yup that is some full on liberal political math right there. How many seconds does it take to add 2 billion to the national debt? To fiscal idiots like JV, those must be positive numbers too.

  12. Tuerqas

After the recent decisions of the courts where more and more judges and courts are liberals shills rather than institutions that mete out justice, I admit I do put less stock in politically aimed convictions where Republicans can be convicted and Democrats cannot even be investigated anymore. Put that aside for a moment and your last comment talks about trump overvaluing his net worth now which means he lost even more money since 2016?

You point to 160 million in ‘international business dealings’ while in office. Did you bother to read the sources? The income was about 99M from golf courses in the UK, Ireland, India and Indonesia and 36.5M from a hotel tower in Vancouver. You (read: your liberal overmasters) think Trump’s promise to put business dealings on hold meant that he should close all his golf courses and hotel chains abroad? T-o-t-a-l fucking idiocy! Did he make ANY deals with foreign Governments, buy any cheap real estate, get any good deal abroad?

And the article you likely pulled it from, so dramatic:

    >When it came to foreign conflicts of interest, Trump and his company pledged to pause foreign business. They did not.

Yeah, they left golf course and hotels open everywhere! Clearly an actionable conflict of interest to leave a golf course open that you already owned while POTUS.

  13. dad29

How about Trumps OWN tax documents that say he made 160 million off of international business dealings while he was president?

I believe T answered the question perfectly.

You still have not recanted your false accusation that Trump was “convicted of sexual assault.” But we didn’t expect honesty from you; you’re a Democrat.

  14. Merlin

    >T-o-t-a-l fucking idiocy!

Yet this is the alternate reality they prefer. They reserve the right to misinterpret any and all facts to align with their emotion-driven political narratives.

  15. jonnyv

    T. One thing that seems pretty spot on is that it is impossible to say if he actually made or lost money due to his complete fabrication of his value and net worth. He would have had to been honest about it in the first place. Or maybe released his tax returns??!? And much of his losses came in real estate as the commercial values dropped when WFH hit during Covid. So much of his actual “net worth” is in real estate. And his “brand value” (lol). Unfortunately Trump is a serial liar and it will be very tough for anyone to prove what his actual worth is. His own accounting firm bailed on him because he wouldn’t give them accurate information.

And even if we take him at his word (which no one ever should), how bad of a business man is he that he has consistently lost money from 2009 into his presidency? His recent Truth Social investment is continuing his string of great business decisions.

And you can complain about “liberal shills”, but ultimately it needs to get through a jury. He was legally convicted. You can cry that they don’t go after democrats all you want. What you can’t claim is that the charges are fake or made up. There is a level of proof needed for a jury to convict.

Dad29. He was found liable for sexual abuse by 6 men and 3 women… in LESS THAN 3 hours deliberation. Not a technical “conviction” because it was a civil trial. If you are drawing a hard distinction between the civil suit and legal crime in this instance… that is a shitty way to justifying a sexual predator. Apparently you have no issues with sexual predators then. Not like he doesn’t have a pattern of this. I am sure Ivanka made that up too when she took the divorce settlement on ground of “cruel and inhumane treatment.” This guy sure is a winner.

With all this money, you would think he could hire better lawyers.

  16. dad29

Yes. There IS a distinction and in the English language you don’t really know, that means something.

There are “other accusers”? You mean grifters who did NOT have any evidence of Trump’s “bad deeds”, therefore there were no trials?

    I see.

  17. dad29

Your Forbes number is about to get blown to smithereens.

Trump is suddenly on track for a windfall of nearly $4 billion. And he has made most of it just in the five weeks since his big win in the Iowa caucuses put him in pole position for the Republican presidential nomination.

The windfall is from the forthcoming IPO of his social-media platform, called Truth Social, which he launched — amid massive derision from the mainstream media, I might add — in 2021 after he was kicked off Twitter following the events of Jan. 6, 2021. …

Under terms of the deal, which has been in the pipeline since 2021, Trump personally is set to end up with 79 million shares in the company when the deal is complete, possibly as soon as this quarter … That values Trump’s personal stake in the company at $3.8 billion — up $2.5 billion just since winning in Iowa over Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley, et al.

    >There is a level of proof needed for a jury to convict.

Tell that to the Memphis three. All you need to convict is prejudice. And you can take that to the black community bank.

Honesty from even a part-time politician?
As Merlin said: “Yet this is the alternate reality they prefer. They reserve the right to misinterpret any and all facts to align with their emotion-driven political narratives.”

And since people like the Biden lifetime political family are all clearly honest (in your programmed opinion), none of us here will be surprised in the least when you start the Hunter Biden campaign for POTUS fund.

I have no respect for Trump’s honesty, the words that often come out of his mouth aren’t any more honest than sane Joe Biden’s ever were, much less the current failing Joe Biden. Of course, Trump is not any less honest, either. The beauty of an outsider’s opinion on US politics is that, while I may be wrong sometimes, I am not prejudiced towards either party. They both suck, but while Republicans will agree with me and then add ‘but we have to choose what we believe is the lesser evil to feel relevant’, Democrats breathe in the unicorn farts and say everything is great as long as Democrats spend all our and our children’s money on keeping power and minorities in ghettoes. They believe whatever they are programmed to believe.
This is the greatest contributor in the Democrat ascendency at present. Republican voters are sick of the lies and bullshit, Democrat voters still love them or at least love to deny all the Dem lies and believe the bullshit. The Dem press spouts that Trump gave tax beaks to the rich and that Joe gave it to the middle class. I believe my wallet. The last time I had a tax break was during Trump’s term. The bottom line is that you don’t need truth or proof to say or believe anything pro-Dem or anti-Rep, JV.
