Woman Charged for Not Showing Up at Wedding

I have several questions about this.

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. – It was a couple weeks ago, Jessica Baker was getting ready to go to a wedding with her husband when she got a call from her mom.

“She called at the last minute and had something come up and said I can’t make it,” said Baker.

Her mom was supposed to watch their kids. And since the invitation said no children, that meant no wedding. But then this week, she received a bill for the dinner they were supposed to have enjoyed.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” she said with a smile. “It listed, we would have had twoherb crusted walleye and there was also a service and tax charge.”

The total came to $75.90.

“This cost reflects the amount paid by the bride and groom for meals that were RSVP’d for, reimbursement and explanation for no show, card, call or text would be appreciated,” the note read.

First, what is up with that sentence on the bill? It’s unintelligible.

Second, generally speaking, people don’t get invited to weddings of people they don’t know, so presumably Jessica Baker knew either the bride or the groom. Assuming that’s the case, then what kind of tools are the bride and groom to send a bill like this?

Third, if Jessica Baker was just a distant acquaintance or friend of a friend of a friend, then who spends $75.90 to feed someone so remotely connected to them at their wedding? Was the couple that desperate to have a big wedding that they invited strangers to it?

What I suspect is that this is either a hoax, or it is a chapter in a feud between Jessica Baker and (probably) the bride that’s been going on for some time.
