Fer cryin’ out loud…
Four conservative GOP senators, including Wisconsin’s Ron Johnson, quickly announced initial opposition to the measure and others were evasive, raising the specter of a jarring rejection by the Republican-controlled body. But Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., indicated he was open to discussion and seemed determined to muscle the measure through his chamber next week.
Johnson ran for office twice on the promise to repeal Obamacare. If he can’t bring himself to actually act after years of promises to his constituents, then he is the lowest form of politician – and that’s starting from a very low point, indeed.
The Senate bill sucks, which is why RoJo finally got on his hind legs and said NO!! Cruz and Lee are not posers, either.
Senate bill is much better than where we are now.
Johnson has plenty of experience in voting for bills he hasn’t read and doesn’t understand, so I predict he’ll vote for it.
Trump will veto it. He truly wants single payer.
Kevin: the Senate bill IS where we are now. If you take a very close look at it, the taxes go away–but the spending does not. Mandates remain.
The House bill is much better, though far from good.

Whenever a bill gets down to a couple of swing votes, they all become neanderthals. Occasionally, the politician will want a “look what I did” concession for their constituents. More commonly, their vote can be bought with more budget $$, committee assignments or, my guess in Johnson’s case, some concessions from “the Party” because they abandoned him during the last election cycle.

If we get the tax revocation and mandate revocation, that IS better than where we are now.
I agree the spending part needs to be done away with, but I’m for what we can get right now, vs. status quo.
Kevin, we differ in tactics, which signifies a difference in strategy.
My strategy: return to ~2000 A D system. Tactics: get as close as possible first-pass because there will be no 2nd-pass from the Republicans. They have no balls, as recent history (1988-present) has taught us.
Your tactics would leave damn near everything on the table to take a couple of bucks back. Aside from enlarging an enormous deficit, you apparently trust the (R) party to get more the next time around. Either you learned nothing since 1988, OR you are optimistic beyond the wildest dreams of any Conservative.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders made the claim that “there is no question…thousands of people will die.” link. Amazing, as the biggest complaint is our elected representatives have not had adequate time to READ THE BILL BEFORE IT IS VOTED ON. Could Bernie be channeling the spirit of Nancy Pelosi?
Yah….well….’thousands will die’ with ObozoCare OR without it. A noticeable percentage of those deaths will occur in (D)-funded abortuaries.
