A suspect who allegedly shot and killed a retired Wisconsin judge Friday in a targeted act had a hit list that included U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a law enforcement official familiar with the investigation told ABC News.
Law enforcement responded to a home in New Lisbon, Wisconsin, Friday morning after a 911 caller reported there was an armed person in the residence who had fired two shots, according to Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul.
The caller had exited the home and contacted law enforcement from a nearby home.
The Juneau County Special Tactics and Response Team responded and attempted to negotiate with the alleged shooter before entering the home. Inside, they found the homeowner, a 68-year-old man, dead, and a 56-year-old man in the basement suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Kaul said.
[…]
When SWAT entered the home, they found Roemer zip-tied to a chair and fatally shot, according to the law enforcement official.
A hit list with over a dozen names found inside the suspect’s car at the scene included Roemer’s, McConnell’s and Whitmer’s, as well as Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers’, the source said. Several names also appear to be tied to Uhde’s 2001 criminal case, court records show.
Biden Responds to Shooting by… *checks notes*… Cracking Down on Police?

The executive order signed by Biden will create a new national database that contains records of federal officer misconduct, including convictions, terminations, de-certifications, civil judgments, resignations and retirements while under investigation for serious misconduct.
It also requires all federal law enforcement agencies to revise use-of-force policies, banning chokeholds and restricting the use of no-knock warrants — two tactics that were widely criticized following the deaths of Floyd and Taylor.
Evers fails to act to stem rise in violent crime
by Owen | 2103, 22 May 22 | Crime, Politics - Wisconsin | 0 Comments
Here is my full column that ran in the Washington County Daily News last week.
Two facts have become very clear this election year. First, crime is a huge priority for Wisconsinites. Second, crime is not a priority at all for Gov. Tony Evers.
Since Tony Evers took office, crime — particularly violent crime — is way up in Wisconsin. Reviewing the crime statistics compiled by Wisconsin’s Department of Justice tells a tragic story. In comparing 2018 (the last year before Evers took office) to 2021 (the last full year), there were 82% more murders in Wisconsin, 16% more aggravated assaults, and 111% more vehicle thefts.
Even more tragic, while murders were up by 82%, arrests for murder were only up 15%. And while aggravated assaults were up by 16%, arrests for aggravated assaults were down by 4%. We have more violent crime, and we are arresting fewer of those violent criminals.
The vast majority of the rise in crime is coming from Milwaukee. The crime in Milwaukee made national news last Friday when 21 people were shot near the Deer District after the Bucks game. The violence prompted the Bucks to cancel the planned watch party in the Deer District for game seven of the series. Sadly, such violence is only slightly worse than what has become a normal weekend night in Milwaukee. It would be easy to dismiss the crime in Milwaukee. After all, citizens of the city of Milwaukee made it clear in the last mayoral election that they are unconcerned with the crime. They had a clear choice to elect a pro-law enforcement crimefighter and picked the other guy instead. But Milwaukee remains an economic and cultural nexus of the state. What happens in Milwaukee impacts all of Wisconsin. Despite the rising crime that is eating the core of Wisconsin’s largest city and spreading to other communities, Evers has made it clear that fighting crime is not a priority. After each heinous crime, Evers tweets the requisite sympathies and admonitions to behave, but does nothing.
After a monster with a history of violent crime and racist online rants was freed on $1,000 bail in Milwaukee two days before careening through the Waukesha Christmas Parade killing six and injuring dozens, Evers shared the appropriate sentiments and did nothing. Evers did not even admonish Milwaukee District Attorney John Chisholm for recommending a trivial bail, nor did he use his power as governor to remove Chisholm from office. Chisholm’s office has a history of coddling violent criminals, but Evers supports Chisholm’s policies.
After the shootings in Milwaukee last week, Evers once again took to media outlets to express his sorrow and outrage. And once again he is not acting to make any changes to keep it from happening again. Evers’ lieutenant governor, Mandela Barnes, who is also running for U.S. Senate, tweeted about the need for gun control — the old hobby horse of totalitarians throughout modern history — without even bothering to give any specific policy prescriptions.
In each of Evers’ budgets, he failed to offer any policy initiatives to reduce crime. Instead, under the label of “criminal justice reform,” Evers proposed spending more money on education and training for crooks in jail. He campaigned on closing the juvenile facilities of Lincoln Hills and Copper Lake, but four years later, they remain open waiting for a better solution for Wisconsin’s young criminals. Evers is consistent in advocating to legalize marijuana as a means of reducing crime, but such policies are more about appeasing college kids and crusty hippies. Nowhere in Evers’ budgets is there anything designed to lock up more criminals, empower law enforcement, or compel district attorneys and judges to conduct themselves with the rigor and vigor that justice and victims deserve.
Safe behind the walls of his taxpayer-provided mansion with armed guards escorting him wherever he goes, Governor Evers has consistently demonstrated disinterest in the explosion in violent crime that is wrecking lives and destroying the quality of life in the state. Wisconsin needs a new governor who cares more about victims than criminals.

Pro-Abortion Violence Erupts in Madison

Once again we see that it is the liberals who have such a strong propensity for violence when they don’t get their way. Antifa. BLM. Occupy Wall Street. Protests outside of justices’ homes. Attacking Senator Paul. The list goes on.
MADISON, Wis. — Madison police and the Fire Department are investigating a fire at an office building on the city’s north side that they said was arson.
Crews were called to the 2800 block of International Lane Sunday just after 6 a.m. and flames could be seen coming from the facility.
[…]
Officers and arson investigators have not determined the cause of the fire, but police confirmed at least one Molotov cocktail was thrown at the office during the incident.
Police confirmed that the office of Wisconsin Family Action was damaged in the incident. The group is a PAC that lobbies against abortion rights and gay marriage.
Democrat Governor Grants Clemency to Murderer

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — In 1994, Kyle Hedquist led a teenager down a remote logging road, then shot her in the back of the head because he feared she might tell police about burglaries he’d committed.
This month, Oregon. Gov. Kate Brown granted clemency to Hedquist, who was serving a life sentence without parole after being convicted of murdering Nikki Thrasher when he was 17. Brown’s act is unleashing a storm of criticism from prosecutors and law enforcement.
[…]
However, Brown said she has denied most clemency requests.
“Clemency is an action I reserve for individuals who have demonstrated that they have made incredible changes in their lives to rehabilitate themselves, take accountability for their crimes, and dedicate themselves to making their communities a better place,” Brown said.
While locked up in the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem, Hedquist spent over 20 years volunteering for hospice care services, said Liz Merah, Brown’s spokeswoman.
I’m glad that this murder had a chance to grow and enjoy a life of service. Remember that the young lady who he murdered never got that chance. He took her future.
NYC Mayor Chastises BLM
by Owen | 0738, 14 Apr 22 | Crime, Politics | 8 Comments
Dare we hope that New York’s new Mayor means what he says? Watch what he does… not what he says.
A bloody night across the city left two dead and another ten shot, all of whom were black, in a wave of gun violence across the five boroughs.
‘Where are all those who stated “Black Lives Matter'”? the city’s second black mayor asked, speaking Wednesday on NY1 with Ruschell Boone.
Adams’ frustrated comments appeared to be an attack on progressives who have criticized his policies.
He added that those who protested police brutality in 2020 should do the same for the violence currently afflicting the city.
‘If black lives matter, then the thousand of people I saw on the street when Floyd was murdered should be on the street right now.’
The former police captain continued, ‘The lives of these black children that are dying every night matter. We can’t be hypocrites.’
Secret Service Agent Imposter Released
by Owen | 2104, 13 Apr 22 | Crime, Politics | 1 Comment
This story is amazing from a dozen angles. Incompetence. Espionage. Terror threat.
That same day, four Secret Service agents were placed on administrative leave, including at least two on the presidential protective detail for President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden and at least one responsible for guarding Vice President Kamala Harris’ residence at One Observatory Circle at the Naval Observatory.
Two days after the email was received and responded to, the FBI, NCIS and USPIS raided five apartment units leased to Ali and Taherzadeh at Crossing DC in the Navy Yard neighborhood of southeast Washington, D.C.
Ali and Taherzadeh were arrested at a restaurant near the apartment where they were meeting with a third individual, which prosecution claims was an attorney.
During the second day of the motion for detention hearing on Monday afternoon, the lawyers for Taherzadeh and Ali claimed that their clients pose no threat to the community or of flight, despite illegally owning several firearms.
Taherzadeh’s lawyer insisted there is no risk that her defendant will obstruct justice or tamper with evidence further, claiming he only deleted law enforcement posts from social media ahead of the arrest because after the tip off he was ’embarrassed’.
Ali’s representation also claimed he was not a flight risk, as prosecutors said he was in their detention motion.
His attorney said it was ridiculous to suggest that a man with a ‘high school degree’ is a Pakistani intelligence contact.
Kleefisch Promises to Back the Badge
by Owen | 0615, 11 Apr 22 | Crime, Politics - Wisconsin | 1 Comment
Yes, yes, and yes. I would argue that more police are useless if we do not actually lock up the criminals they arrest. Judicial reform must go hand in glove with these initiatives.
The Republican then outlined her plan to help boost law enforcement in the state; promising that if elected she would hire up to 1,000 additional police officers while also pushing bail and sentencing reform.
“We will do it in our first executive budget,” said Kleefisch. “We will use our Wisconsin State Patrol to surge where violent crime is surging and we do not yet have enough police recruits.”
She promised to fill those jobs both with those who are up and coming through the academies and by aggressively recruiting officers that may have been let go in other states due to vaccine mandates. “Let’s thrown down the welcome mat here in the great state of Wisconsin to make sure they take our great Wisconsin jobs in law enforcement. Let’s do it starting in January.”
Kleefisch also promised to use executive powers to fire Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm. Many Republicans have criticized him for allowing Darrell Brooks to walk on a low bond for charges that he tried to run over the mother of his child. That was just days before he’s said to have driven an SUV into the route of the Waukesha Christmas Parade last November. Six people died, and dozens were injured in that incident.
“Those deaths, those injuries are to be laid directly at the feet of the Milwaukee County District Attorney who said he knew that his policy of setting low or no bail would lead to people dying. Rather than hang his head in shame he continues to run on these policies,” said Kleefisch.
“It is time for a Governor to actually back the badge. We must celebrate, we must respect, and we must stand with those who stand for us on the thin blue line,” she added.
Russian Atrocities

No matter how civilized we think we have become, humans always return to barbarism. It is one of the many reasons that I vehemently defend the 2nd Amendment.
The BBC’s Yogita Limaye is on the ground reporting on new evidence of atrocities emerging in areas around Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital, after Russian forces pulled out.
She took the photo below of a shallow grave in the village of Motyzhyn, where four people allegedly shot dead by Russian forces were left. We have blurred parts of the picture.
Three of the bodies have been identified as members of one family, including the head of the village, Olha Sohnenko. The fourth body has not been identified.
Yogita is on her way to Bucha – a town where the discovery of many dead civilians has shocked the world, and seen Russia accused of war crimes.
Feds Investigate Hunter Biden
by Owen | 2017, 30 Mar 22 | Crime, Politics | 4 Comments
Sadly, I do not think we now live in an America where all are equal under the law. I have no expectation that Hunter will ever be prosecuted. For the same reasons that Will Smith was not escorted out by police after assaulting another man in front of hundreds of witnesses, Hunter will get a pass. The privileged class is rarely held to the same standards as normal folk.
The federal investigation into President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, over his tax affairs has intensified in recent weeks, sources familiar with the matter tell ABC News.
An increasing number of witnesses have appeared before a grand jury impaneled in Wilmington, Delaware, in recent months, the sources said, and have been asked about payments Hunter Biden received while serving on the board of directors of Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma, in addition to other questions about how Biden paid off tax obligations in recent years.
Teaching the Three R’s: Racism, Racism, Racism

But parents don’t deserve to know what their kids are being taught.
In February, DPI brought in Charlene Carruthers for its equity webinar series to talk about social transformation. Carruthers is a community organizer and PhD student at Northwestern University who specializes in “interrogating historical conjunctures of Black freedom-making post-emancipation and decolonial revolution, Black governance, Black feminist and queer theory,” according to her website.
“We’re going up against 300 years plus, at least of it being a formal state, of white supremacy, of patriarchy and of capitalism,” she told the teachers.
That’s also the core principle of CRT, which describes all aspects of American history and society within that framework. Although Carruthers’ life is dedicated to that work, she claims she’s not sure what people mean when they refer to CRT.
“I’m a black studies scholar, I cannot tell- I think could tell you what critical race theory is, and I can tell you for sure it is not the most radical thing to come out… ha! Wait until you hear what we really think, what we really believe in!”
DPI’s in-house education consultant Chrissy Thuli was nodding and laughing as Carruthers made that admission.
Carruthers is a vocal advocate of the defund the police movement. She referenced Freedom Inc’s work in Madison for the #PoliceFreeSchools campaign. Freedom Inc. played a key leadership role during the riots that destroyed downtown Madison in 2020.
Milwaukee Acting Mayor Too Busy Campaigning to Fight Crime
by Owen | 1956, 29 Mar 22 | Crime, Politics - Wisconsin | 0 Comments
But if you elect him, he’ll get right on it. Riiiight…
As Milwaukee contends with double the number of homicides compared to the same time last year, Acting Mayor Cavalier Johnson said Tuesday he hasn’t yet had time to implement the full public safety plan he proposed at the beginning of his tenure.
Johnson became acting mayor in late December when former Mayor Tom Barrett resigned mid-term to become U.S. ambassador to Luxembourg. Within weeks, he rolled out a plan to combat crime through law enforcement, community healing and neighborhood-level investments.
“When you’re in this position, when a mayor resigns, you get thrusted right into a snap election,” Johnson said Tuesday when asked about homicides during a meeting of the Rotary Club of Milwaukee. “So you’ve got to spend time governing the city, but you also have to campaign for the office.”
[…]
Asked what steps within the mayor’s control needed to be taken now to stem homicides, Johnson pivoted to the city’s looming pension crisis.
“For those of you that may not be aware, the drumbeat of death is the fact that we’ve got this increased pension obligation that’s coming up starting next year,” he said.
Johnson’s comments came as Milwaukee has experienced record homicides for two straight years — and as the city has seen homicides double so far in 2022 compared to this time last year.
Good Samaritan Will Not Be Charged for Killing Man He Rescued

Thank goodness he had a weapon with which to defend himself.
Morgan and a woman were in distress, having fallen off their Jet Ski into the lake, Oconee County sheriff’s officials said earlier. The two had no life jackets and the Jet Ski was circling.
The 74-year-old man and his wife on a pontoon boat drove over to help fish the pair out of the lake, the sheriff’s office said. The couple on the boat told authorities Morgan became agitated once he got on board and started assaulting them.
Investigators were told he may have wanted to get back on the Jet Ski. They also believe there may have been an argument between Morgan and the woman he was with before they fell into the water. Sheriff Mike Crenshaw told The Journal of Seneca that Morgan may have been intoxicated.
The woman who was with Morgan pushed him back into the lake in an attempt to defuse the situation, the sheriff’s office has said. The couple on the pontoon helped him aboard again, and the man shot him after a second encounter, saying he feared for his and his wife’s lives. Authorities have declined to name the couple.
Morgan died on the boat from a gunshot wound to the chest, the Oconee County Coroner’s Office said.
Smollett Sentenced

I admit it… I thought he’d get away with it.
(CNN)Former “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett was sentenced Thursday to 30 months of felony probation, ordered to pay restitution of more than $120,000 and a $25,000 fine and spend 150 days in jail for making false reports to police that he was the victim of a hate crime in January 2019.
After the judge announced his sentence, Smollett lowered his face mask and said he was innocent. “Your honor, I respect you and I respect the jury, but I did not do this,” the actor told the judge, before turning to the court. “And I am not suicidal. And if anything happens to me when I go in there, I did not do it to myself. And you must all know that.”
Just before he was taken into custody, the actor yelled again that he was innocent and raised a fist in the air.
Parents Demand Action On Increasing Violence in Schools. West Bend School District Responds

And a tepid response it is. The Washington County Insider has been all over the case of the increasing violence in the West Bend School District, the uninterested response of the school board and administration, and the parents’ increasing frustration.
February 24, 2022 – West Bend, WI – The West Bend School District sent a note to families this week addressing concerns discussed by parents regarding bullying and safety on the school bus.
During the Monday, February 21, 2022, West Bend School Board meeting five parents spoke out about a student being bullied and injured during several incidents while the child rode the school bus.
Milwaukee Has a Real Choice for Mayor

Sadly, despite surging crime and crumbling neighborhoods, I fully expect Milwaukeeans to elect another leftist who will continue to push Milwaukee off the cliff. They have a choice to actually elect someone who would try to enact proven policies to reduce crime – Bob Donavan – but they won’t. I hope I’m wrong, but I’m not.
MILWAUKEE, WI — Cavalier Johnson celebrated as the unofficial winner of the Milwaukee mayoral primary race on Tuesday. Johnson had nearly 37 percent of the vote as of 9:30 p.m., data from the Milwaukee County Election Commission data showed.
Johnson and former alderman Bob Donovan are projected winners of the 2022 spring primary. Donovan trailed behind Johnson with 27 percent of the vote, election commission data showed.

Several candidates told Patch that their first priorities for issues facing Milwaukee were tackling reckless driving and violence in the city, and each of their concerns boiled down to public safety.
Johnson, the acting mayor and president of the Common Council, told Patch he would address public safety with a strategy that combined law enforcement with criminal justice reform, neighborhood healing and community engagement.
Wordle Saves a Life

Nice!
Denyse Holt, 80, was alone at home in Illinois on 5 February when a naked and mentally ill suspect entered her home.
Her daughter in faraway Seattle noticed something was amiss when Ms Holt failed to send her daily Wordle.
The suspect now faces several felony charges.
According to Ms Holt, she was asleep in bed in Chicago’s Lincolnwood area when 32-year-old James H. Davis III entered her home and pointed a pair of scissors at her. He was naked and bleeding after being cut by window shards while entering the house.
“I didn’t think I was going to live,” she told CBS. “I was in shock. I was trying to survive.”
While Mr Davis told her he wouldn’t harm her, he did force her – still wearing a nightgown – to take a warm bath with him before taking two knives from the kitchen, disconnecting phones, and locking her in a cold basement bathroom.
Across the country in Seattle, Ms Holt’s daughter, Meredith Holt-Caldwell, soon noticed that her mother wasn’t responding to text messages and hadn’t sent in her Wordle, a popular daily word puzzle.
“That was disconcerting to her,” Ms Holt said, because her daughter knew that this was a routine she never missed.
Liberal D.A. Regrets Low Bail for Career Criminal

There seems to be a lot of this going around.
A Detroit drug dealer was granted a $5,000 bond despite allegedly setting fire to his girlfriend who was 27 weeks pregnant with twins, burning 60 percent of her body and leaving her critically-ill.
Convicted drug pusher Devonne Marsh, 42, reportedly doused his 26-year-old girlfriend with lighter fluid and ignited her on fire after the pair had an argument.
Police told the Macomb Daily the pregnant mom was being held against her will and tortured. She was afraid to come forward fearing retaliation from Marsh.
[…]
Despite his at least two decades-long criminal record – which includes numerous violent crime and drug dealing charges – Marsh was awarded a $50,000 bail, meaning be could be released on a $5,000 bond.
Veteran Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, a Democrat, previously said she supported bail reform for minor issues, such as traffic infractions, is now filing a motion to have his bail increased due to the severity of the crime.
‘His original bond was woefully inadequate, and we will be seeking a more appropriate bond given these charges,’ Worthy told WWJ 950 radio.
Feds Selectively Use Police Power to Stifle Opposition to Government Actions

In the wake of MLK Day, a day honoring a many who was deeply distrusted and investigated by federal law enforcement, it should trouble all Americans that our federal law enforcement agencies only aggressively investigate groups that oppose the government’s agenda. Protesting government actions is as American as apple pie.
Federal law enforcement in Washington, D.C., has been closely monitoring social media for signs of potential violence and extremist activity ahead of a widely publicized demonstration against vaccine mandates this weekend, according to documents obtained by Yahoo News.
“Defeat the Mandates: An American Homecoming” is being billed as a peaceful gathering to promote unity among people who oppose COVID-19 vaccine requirements implemented across the country in an effort to mitigate the impact of the ongoing pandemic. The event is scheduled to take place on the National Mall this Sunday, Jan. 23, beginning with a march from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial, followed by a rally featuring speeches from several prominent anti-vaccine advocates, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whose nonprofit advocacy organization, Children’s Health Defense, is one of the event’s sponsors.
