The White House has tied any new deal on young undocumented immigrants to a clampdown on illegal immigration, including a border wall with Mexico.
US President Donald Trump is asking for funding for the wall, speedier deportations and the hiring of thousands of new immigration officials.
Last month he ended the Obama-era “Dreamer” programme which had protected some 690,000 immigrants.
Leading Democrats in Congress have rejected the latest proposals.
They accused Mr Trump of backtracking on a commitment not to include the border wall in negotiations over the status of young immigrants, who are mostly from Mexico and other Latin American countries.
Okay…. so somebody is lying. Given the track record of this crowd, it could be all of them.
Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump pushed back Thursday morning against claims by top congressional Democrats that a deal has been reached over legislation to protect hundreds of thousands of young undocumented immigrants and that a border-security package would not include a wall along the US-Mexico border.
“No deal was made last night on DACA,” Trump tweeted. “Massive border security would have to be agreed to in exchange for consent. Would be subject to vote.”
Late Wednesday, Democratic leaders Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi said they had “agreed to enshrine the protections of (the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program) into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that’s acceptable to both sides.”
But Trump also refuted that specific assertion by the Democratic leaders about a border wall, tweeting, “The WALL, which is already under construction in the form of new renovation of old and existing fences and walls, will continue to be built.”
It was a clear and pointed message to the Delavan-Darien School community: If immigration agents knock, don’t open the door, don’t sign or say anything and fight back.
It caught a lot of parents by surprise.
“I was surprised to receive that and have the school district giving advice on how to deal with a non-academic situation,” parent Sara Deschner said.
This is the problem with years and years of normalizing illegal behavior. People become acclimated and it makes it that much tougher on them when we decide to enforce the law. All of these sob stories just reinforce the notion that we should enforce our laws swiftly and consistently.
Tensions were high in the immigrant community even before Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke announced his deputies would act as ICE agents. Advisers to the undocumented said that decision has many going underground.

The Trump administration has issued tough guidelines to widen the net for deporting illegal immigrants from the US, and speed up their removal.
Undocumented immigrants arrested for traffic violations or shop-lifting will be targeted along with those convicted of more serious crimes.
All 11 million or so undocumented foreigners in the US could be affected.
I don’t think we need to commit a ton of resources to find and deport illegal aliens, but when law enforcement runs across them in the normal course of business, they should be deported. They do not have a legal right to be in America.
(Reuters) – U.S. federal immigration agents arrested hundreds of undocumented immigrants in at least four states this week in what officials on Friday called routine enforcement actions.
Reports of immigration sweeps this week sparked concern among immigration advocates and families, coming on the heels of President Donald Trump’s executive order barring refugees and immigrants from seven majority-Muslim nations. That order is currently on hold.
“The fear coursing through immigrant homes and the native-born Americans who love immigrants as friends and family is palpable,” Ali Noorani, executive director of the National Immigration Forum, said in a statement. “Reports of raids in immigrant communities are a grave concern.”
The enforcement actions took place in Atlanta, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and surrounding areas, said David Marin, director of enforcement and removal for the Los Angeles field office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
First, advocates of immigration, of which I am one, are not concerned. Advocates of illegal immigration are concerned, and should be. But even then, this provides a little window into what’s going on:
Only five of 161 people arrested in Southern California would not have been enforcement priorities under the Obama administration, he said.

He said that of the people arrested in Southern California, only 10 did not have criminal records. Of those, five had prior deportation orders.
So a scant minority of those being picked up might not have been under Obama. And the vast majority of them are criminals, which even Democrats used to agree should be deported.
Why am I supposed to be outraged that ICE is doing its job? Don’t we pay them to find and deport illegal aliens? Don’t we tell them to prioritize ones with criminal records first? Yes, yes we do. And I thank them for their efforts.
(CNN)Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos went to Mass and said a prayer before her immigration check-in Wednesday in Phoenix.
It was her eighth visit since she was arrested in 2008 for using a fake Social Security number. After each meeting, the married mother of two went back to her family.
This time was different. She was detained and within 24 hours she was deported to her native Mexico. She was turned over to Mexican authorities at a border crossing in Nogales, Arizona, according to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.
Her lawyers claim she is a victim of President Donald Trump’s tougher stance on illegal immigration.

“Ms. Garcia, who has a prior felony conviction in Arizona for criminal impersonation, was the subject of a court-issued removal order that became final in July 2013,” US Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a statement. “(Her) immigration case underwent review at multiple levels of the immigration court system, including the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the judges held she did not have a legal basis to remain in the US.”
CNN is trying to portray this story as a bad thing and playing up the sympathy, but isn’t this exactly the kind of illegal alien that even Democrats said they wanted deported? You know… a felon? The only thing outrageous about this story is that it took almost 9 years to get it done.
Once it quickly becomes apparent that immigration reform is stillborn on Capitol Hill, Clinton will take a dog-eared page out of President Obama’s playbook and accuse Republicans of “obstructionism” and declare that the immigration problem must be addressed “for the good of the nation” with legislation being written and passed in the West Wing instead of by Congress.
Obama took extra-consitutional action and was batted down by the Supreme Court, which blocked his decree legalizing millions of illegal immigrants who are parents of legal residents. What Clinton and Kaine surely know is that they won’t be facing the same problem.
Obama’s end run around Congress was stopped by a lower court and the ruling was let stand by a deadlocked 4-4 Supreme Court, which would have rejected it outright had Justice Antonin Scalia not passed away. During the same 100 days Clinton and Kaine will ostensibly be trying to push doomed immigration, the White House on a parallel tracking will be working to have Congress confirm a new justice who will provide the fifth vote needed to uphold the executive action written by Obama — and whatever other decrees Hillary and her claque can think of. By the time Hillary and Tim recoil in “disgust” from Congress, a new justice will be in place to solve the problem.

A pair of teenagers from Beloit are among the estimated thousands of people rallying at the Capitol in Madison over legislation seen as aimed at immigrants.
They’re upset by a pair of Republican bills. One would block cities from keeping police officers from asking a person’s immigration status. The other would keep cities and counties from issuing local IDs.
Both of those bills are utterly reasonable. No, cities shouldn’t prevent their officers from asking if someone is legally in the country. It is their job to enforce the law – including our immigration laws. And the other bill doesn’t ban cities from issuing local IDs. It forces them to make it clear that the local ID is not valid for voting or getting state benefits – both of which is already the law. Note that neither of these bills have any impact whatsoever on LEGAL immigrants.

Wow. It’s almost as if the Obama Administration didn’t care if Obamacare dollars flowed to illegal aliens. And, by the way, we aren’t going to get that money back.
In March 2015, Chairman Ron Johnson of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs initiated an inquiry into CMS’s eligibility verification process and into the process used to recoup improper payments. 2 The inquiry found that CMS had awarded ACA tax credits on behalf of more than 500,000 individuals who CMS later determined to be ineligible for coverage and tax credits. The inquiry also found that CMS and the IRS lack an effective plan to recoup credits that CMS awarded to ineligible individuals. The majority staff estimates that CMS distributed approximately $750 million in taxpayer funds in the form of tax credits, and anticipates that the IRS is unable to fully recoup the funds. This “pay and chase” model has potentially cost taxpayers approximately $750 million.
Pursuant to the ACA, if CMS cannot verify an individual’s citizenship, status as a national, or legal presence, CMS provides temporary coverage to the individual, including credits and subsidies, while it allows the individual to provide documentary evidence of his eligibility. If the individual does not provide sufficient documentary evidence of eligibility, CMS must remove the individual from coverage. Indeed, CMS has announced that it removed more than 500,000 individuals from health insurance coverage because of their failure to document citizenship or legal residency status.
Based on information provided to the Committee and the majority staff’s calculations, as of June 2015, the Administration awarded approximately $750 million in tax credits on behalf of individuals who were later determined to be ineligible because they failed to verify their citizenship, status as a national, or legal presence.
Seeing no progress on legislative reform in Congress, Obama announced last November he would take executive action to help immigrants. He has faced criticism from Republicans who say the program grants amnesty to lawbreakers.
In its ruling, the appeals court said it was denying the government’s appeal to stay the May injunction “after determining that the appeal was unlikely to succeed on its merits.”
During a question-and-answer session, Walker said that undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States should not be deported, the Republican source said.
Though Walker once supported a path to citizenship as part of comprehensive immigration overhaul, his New Hampshire comments are at odds with more recent assurances that he opposes what he calls “amnesty” for undocumented immigrants. Walker admitted in a Fox News interview earlier this month that he changed his position on the issue.
The newly-reported comments are also in conflict with the sentiments of many conservatives who hold sway in Republican primaries and fiercely oppose the idea of granting citizenship to undocumented immigrants.
Walker’s remarks were reported Thursday by the Wall Street Journal, citing two attendees who confirmed the comments on-the-record. One Republican at the dinner, Franklin Mayor Ken Merrifield, told the Journal that Walker said illegal immigrants should “get to the back of the line for citizenship.”
The father of a black teenager murdered by an illegal immigrant asked “do black lives really matter?” in a House hearing to review the Department of Homeland Security’s policies towards “non-citizens unlawfully present in the United States.”
That father, Jamiel Shaw, and Michael Ronnebeck, the uncle of another man murdered earlier this month by an illegal immigrant, testified at Wednesday’s hearing in front of a subcommittee of the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
Both men asserted that Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) lax detainment policies contributed to the death of their family members. ICE came under intense scrutiny last year when it was revealed that in 2013 the agency had released over 36,000 convicted criminal aliens from its custody. Of those, nearly 200 had committed murder.
The California Department of Public Health sent out the latest numbers Friday of confirmed cases since December and while the total is still small, the jump was a startling 54% in just more than a week.
It’s still less than 100 people, so it’s not the end of the world. But measles is a highly contagious disease that can be deadly. It was eradicated in the US.
Measles was declared eliminated in the United States in 2000, which means it is no longer native to the United States but continues to be brought in by international travelers.
It looks like measles cases are on the rise.
Last year, the United States had its most number of measles cases — at 644 — since 2000, the CDC says on its website.
And while most people are vaccinated, not all are:
The two measles patients are siblings, both of whom are unvaccinated. Their cases are related to the outbreak at Disneyland.
So let’s put some pieces together… We have a highly communicable disease that was eliminated from the US, but cases are brought in from outside of the country – particularly from people who are not vaccinated. Is it a coincidence that this outbreak is occurring in a part of the country with a large population of illegal aliens? While we are talking about the measles here, what other diseases are being let in by our open borders policies?
Our border policies have consequences. One of those consequences is the importation of diseases heretofore eliminated from our country.
In the wake of more than 70,000 minors crossing the U.S. border, a Mexican government initiative launched in July has attacked existing immigrant routes, in particular along the southern border of Mexico, and ruthlessly choked off the flow of people.
As a result, tens of thousands of migrants have found themselves caught along that southern border. It’s impossible to travel through the border states of Tabasco, Chiapas, and Vera Cruz and not see them everywhere: walking single file down jungle roads, selling foreign foods like papusas from crude street carts, begging outside churches — and increasingly filing local jail cells for petty crimes.
It’s a looming humanitarian crisis, activists warn, that could rock Mexico’s southeast region and send the extremely poor border states already plagued by cartel violence and endemic corruption into chaos.
“This is just a ticking time bomb,” said Fray Tomas, a Franciscan friar who along with Fray Aurelio runs the shelter in Tenosique. “We are filling up the southeast with tons of people, crime, corrupt authorities. This will explode.”

This is apparently the only veneer of an excuse that Obama could come up with for his abuse of power regarding immigration. From the fundraising email he sent out after his speech:
Right now, I want to tell you why I’m taking action on immigration.
There’s no disagreement in Washington that our system is badly broken. That’s why a bipartisan majority in the Senate passed comprehensive immigration reform. That was more than 500 days ago, but we’re still waiting for the House to hold a vote.
So… because the House didn’t pass a bill that the Senate did, that gives the President authority to ignore Congress, the law, and the Constitution and act by executive fiat? Bills get passed by one house of congress and ignored by the other all the time. And some bills never get passed by either house because there isn’t any support for it. That does not give the president dictatorial powers to act alone.
This president is dangerous and liberals will rue the day they let him get away with it if a conservative tyrant ever ascends to the throne.
According to Wiki (take that for what it’s worth), that would make the illegal population the 5th largest city in Wisconsin.
Wisconsin is home to an estimated 85,000 people who immigrated illegally, three-fourths of them from Mexico.
That’s according to a new study released Tuesday by the Pew Research Center. It focuses on illegal immigration from 2009 to 2012.
The study says illegal immigration has been largely stable nationwide since 2009. It had declined during the recession after peaking in 2007 at 12.2 million people.
The study estimates 55,000 people who immigrated illegally were working in Wisconsin in 2012, less than the estimated 60,000 employed in 2007. Other people who immigrated illegally include workers’ children and spouses.
